FIFA 22 Road to the Knockouts: Start time, leaks, predictions

It has been an exciting start to the season for both FIFA 22 and world football, with massive shakeups across many of the sport's major leagues. Of course the return to action this fall means the UEFA Champions League is back, and EA Sports is ready for the competition.

A popular annual promotion, FIFA runs a Champions League event in Ultimate Team to highlight some of the competition's top players and squads. This year will be no different with the FIFA 22 Road to the Knockouts event set for an upcoming release.

Here's everything you need to know about the promotion including start times, leaks, cards, and predictions.

Road to the Knockouts promotion FIFA 22

The Road to the Knockouts promotion has featured as a ride-along promotion with the Champions League in past FIFA titles. Cards have been released in official team batches throughout the tournament's progression, as well as live cards which upgrade based on team progression.

This year, the Road to the Knockouts event is set to begin on Friday, 15th October at 6 pm BST. If last year's event serves as any indication, there should be a Team 1 drop accompanied by SBCs and Objectives challenge players.

A number of live cards, meaning subject to upgrade, should be released as part of the Road to the Knockouts promotion. These live FUT players are usually amongst the highest-value cards in Ultimate Team.

How do Road to the Knockouts cards work?

In years past, live Ultimate Team cards that released as part of the RTTK promotion upgrade based on team performance in the tournament. Here's how the ratings boost works:

• Team progression:
  • Knockout stage (+1 OVR to +3 OVR)
  • Round of 16 (+1 OVR to +3 OVR)
  • Quarter-Finals (+1 OVR to +2 OVR)
  • Semi-Finals (+1 OVR)
  • Final (+1 OVR)
  • Champions League/Europa League winner (+1 OVR)

Road to the Knockouts predictions - FUT 22

There is no sure way to predict the players who will be awarded an RTTK card, however, EA Sports usually like to select high-profile players who will be popular in Ultimate Team. With that being said, here is a list of players who will likely pop up in one of the first few batches of Road to the Knockouts.
