Why Is Kazuha So Strong And Will He Be Nerfed In Genshin Impact 2.8?

Kazuha is one of the strongest Anemo characters in Genshin Impact. Here's why he is so strong and why nerfs won't likely affect him.
Why Is Kazuha So Strong And Will He Be Nerfed In Genshin Impact 2.8?

With Kazuha’s banner allegedly coming back around in Genshin Impact’s patch 2.8, it leaves Travelers questioning whether the Anemo character is still worth the Primogems. Some even speculate if the wondering swordsman will be nerfed, considering how powerful Kazuha is across almost every composition.

As Sumeru’s release draws near and new Dendro characters begin to emerge, some Travelers even worry if Anemo might not be as powerful when Genshin Impact spreads its content across new lands.

But don’t fret. This guide will cover all the intricacies that make Kazuha extremely strong as a five-star Anemo character and why nerfing him probably won't do much, especially with new content releasing across the game soon.

Since his release, Kazuha hasn’t turned many eyes. But, as the preface for Inazuma’s expansive list of extraordinary characters like the fan-favorite, Ayaka, or electrifying god, Baal, Kazuha didn’t seem to sparkle as bright last year as he does now.

It’s majorly because, during his release, everyone knew which characters were arriving next. Some Travelers even spent all their time since Genshin Impact’s initial launch to farm Primogems to C6 Ayaka. So most people didn’t want to spend the Primogems they’ve been saving up for bigger names during the approach of Inazuma on Kazuha.

Additionally, almost every Traveler already had Anemo supports like Venti or Sucrose. During his first banner, most Travelers labeled Kazuha as a five-star Sucrose, dissuading them from rolling down.

In Genshin Impact, Kazuha received one of the few lowest banner revenues at $9 million. But after many months of updates and new banners, Kazuha became the biggest gut-wrenching regret Travelers felt when realizing what they missed out on in Genshin Impact.

At the time, many people knew the impact of the Anemo character’s Elemental Swirl effect, but not a lot could compare it to others due to the lack of supply.

There also weren’t many choices, and knowing the reason behind Kazuha’s initial banner failure, people resorted to using Sucrose. And although Sucrose was an amazing Support character, Kazuha proved to be so much better with his skill sets, not to mention the stat and shred boosts with which he came.

See, Kazuha’s crowd control is impeccable. He can pull waves of monsters inward and up, slam them down and push them to the ground. His Swirl provides extra Elemental Damage, and you can stack his skills if you have high Energy Recharge, also known as a Battery.

And because he’s an Anemo character, Kazuha has access to one of the most busted artifact sets in Genshin Impact, the four-piece Viridescent Venerer (VV).

VV is amazingly good because it decreases the enemy's Elemental Resistance. So, suppose you put all these things together. In that case, Kazuha can essentially get all your enemies into place and crowd controlled, amplify your team's Elemental Damage, and also shred the enemy’s Magical Resistance with the right artifact set.

Combined with a Battery like Baal, higher DPS built (damage-per-second) Ayaka, and damage boosting Bennet, it’s pretty much game over for anyone you’re facing. However, even if you don’t have any of these characters, Kazuha can make any team composition perform tremendously.

Ultimately, Kazuha is such a fantastic Anemo character, and there’s no reason for anyone not to roll for him.

If you’re worried about Kazuha getting nerfed or at least becoming unusable, the TLDR answer is no, not at all. But let’s dive into a few reasons why Kazuha most likely won’t fall off the Tevyat's edge.

If you’re accustomed to Genshin Impact’s explosive nerfs and buffs, you’ll find Kazuha to at least be out of the wind on any troubles. Unlike Zhongli and the massive blow toward shield-reliant Travelers during some of the Inazuma patches, Kazuha most likely won’t face any severe nerfs unless Genshin Impact revamps many significant mechanics.

Everyone knows how Zhongli, a character esteemed and used across almost every composition, died during the introduction of the status effect, Corrosion.

The corrosive status effect essentially bleeds your health through your shields. (Picture: HoYoverse)

It essentially makes Zhongli’s key talent, his shield, useless as the status effect pierces through and directly damages your health. This nerf was a massive blow because it took away such a once-powerful character’s strength.

But for Kazuha, he’s simply a Support, and his selling point is his crowd control, Elemental Damage boost, and Resistance Shred. So the only way to nerf Kazuha would be to change up the Elemental Damage boosts, which means Swirl would have to be revamped, or a new True Damage effect would be integrated, taking a lot more effort and time across all characters.

So even if HoYoverse reduced Kazuha’s AOE or Battery percentage, you’d have to play closer to enemies. And if the VV artifact set got dunked or changed, Kazuha would still be great support nonetheless for his Elemental Boost and crowd control. Even if the Swirl effect damaged your characters per percentage, you could still use over-time healers to save you the trouble or hop back and forth between regenerative food.

Let’s assume Sumeru is around the corner, Dendro characters are a requirement, and maybe Anemo and Dendro don’t mix well. Still, it doesn’t change the fact that Kazuha is an amazing character who will probably get you past almost every boss.

And suppose you must acquire a Dendro character for a boss with a Dendro shield destroyable only through the same element. In that case, you can always equip a Hyper-Damage Trio composition in your party and make your Dendro character a one-of-a-kind Solo Carry.

You won’t need to sacrifice Kazuha for many things because he’s so adaptable, flexible, and usable that it’s almost even harder to find why he’d be a trash Anemo character in the future.

If this guide has convinced you (or at least assured you) of Kazuha’s strength persisting through Sumeru’s release, then don’t miss his upcoming banner. Kazuha’s allegedly coming out in Genshin Impact’s patch 2.8 on 13th July 2022.
