Smoldering Embers are a rare yet vital material in God of War Ragnarok. Here's how you can acquire more!
God of War Ragnarok: How To Get Smoldering Embers

Smouldering Ember is a crucial resource in God of War Ragnarok. It is required to upgrade the most potent weapons in the entire game. Unfortunately, Smoldering Embers are pretty hard to come by, as they can't just be picked up randomly throughout the overworld.

Players will need to travel to Muspelheim - a land covered in ash - to acquire the valuable material. This article will cover some of the best ways players can acquire more Smoldering Embers.

Firstly, as mentioned, players will need to travel to Muspelheim. This is a land covered in ash governed by the terrifying fire giants. Muspelheim is a side-content area that can be accessed using the Muspelheim seed.

Players will need to have both halves of the Muspelheim seed (found in Svartalfheim) as well as access to the Draupnir Spear (acquired by playing through the main story).

Smoldering Embers can be acquired here by completing a set of trails known as "Final Challenges." These are quests that Kratos must complete while battling in the Muspelheim brawls. To even unlock the Final Challenges, players will need to complete the following tasks first:

  • Challenge 1: Weapon Mastery
  • Challenge 2: Flawless
  • Challenge 3: Ring Out
  • Challenge 4: Feed the Rift
  • Challenge 5: Population Control
  • Challenge 6: King of the Hill.

These challenges can be started throughout Muspelheim at various swords engraved with runes and completed by fulfilling the challenge requirements in battle. Once complete, you will be told that even harder challenges are now available.

Completing these very difficult battles will award you with rewards, including Blazing Embers, Glowing Embers, Enchantments, and the coveted Smoldering Embers.

A bronze rating will award you 20 Smoldering Embers, a silver rating will award you 35 Smoldering Embers, and a gold rating will award you 50 Smoldering Embers. You can then use these Smoldering Embers to create rare items and upgrade your weaponry.

It is recommended to complete these trials and upgrade your firepower in order to take on more difficult boss battles later in the game. That's all about how to get Smoldering Embers in God Of War Ragnarok.
