To get a pet in Grounded, you'll need to tame an insect. There are three different types of insects that can be tamed: Aphids, Gnats, and Weevils. To tame any of these insects, you'll need to use a Slurry; the type of Slurry needed depends on the type of insect:

  • Aphids require Plant Slurry
  • Weevils require Mushroom Slurry
  • Gnats require Spoiled Meat Slurry

Just make the Slurry, find a wild insect, and place it right in front of them. They'll immediately notice the kind gesture and will become tamed!

Pet Bonuses In Grounded

All three types of pets in Grounded provide some kind of boost, making it worthwhile to bring a pet on your team. Here's what type of bonus each pet provides:

  • Aphids: Reduces sprint stamina drain
  • Weevils: Reduced thirst drain rate
  • Gnats: Faster speed with Dandelion Tufts

How To Raise Pet Happiness Meter

No matter what type of pet you have, it'll have a happiness meter that you'll need to keep up. If you don't keep it high enough, your pet may feel neglected and will leave you, so it's important to pay attention to your pet's happiness. To raise the happiness meter, there are many different things you can do:

  • Give the pet clothing
  • Interact with the pet by bringing it with you on trips and petting it
  • Keep it safe from harm
  • Feed the pet

To keep your pet alive, you'll not only need to keep up the happiness meter but keep your pet away from any enemies. Predators can kill your pets, and when they do, they're gone for good.
