Guilty Gear Strive: How to play Giovanna - Special moves, combos, and more

Arc System Works, the Japanese game developer that's been going strong for over 20 years, found immeasurable success after 2018's Dragon Ball FighterZ, and the latest entry in the Guilty Gear series, Strive, is shaping up to be the most popular to date.

Scheduled for release this upcoming 6th April, ArcSys has prepared a final beta test that will include the ability to play almost every single character in the roster, lab in training mode, and of course, go toe to toe with people across the world while testing the rollback netcode of Guilty Gear Strive.

One of the most exciting characters that fans are eager to try out is Giovanna, a brand-new fighter that hails from Brazil, and her wolf spirit, Rei.

If you are new to the world of Guilty Gear or have little fighting game experience, we're gonna break down some of the moves showcased in the beginner guide posted by ArcSys, as well as explain more nuanced mechanics.

One key move left out of the list is Giovanna's triple kick similar to Akatsuski's infamous B Tatsu from UNIST. This move hits a total of three times with the third hit leaving the opponent in a knockdown situation, however, during the first two (which can be slightly delayed) you can mix your opponent by throwing a different move to cross them up, like Sol Poente.

As a rushdown character, you'll want to throw safe moves that can trick your opponent into pressing buttons only to find themselves with their backs against the wall.

Trovão is probably his best approach tool, it launches Gio forward, going to projectiles in the process. Furthermore, the move is safe on block, meaning you won't get punished if your opponent tries to fight back.

Guilty Gear Strive: Giovanna combos

There have been a ton of content creators already digging into what Giovanna is capable of once you implement game mechanics such as Roman Cancels into her game plan.
