Got everything you need for your PlayStation 5? Think again.
Best PS5 accessories you need to own

Sony’s PlayStation 5 is officially out in the wild, meaning a significant chunk of the population is enjoying swift load times and a slightly cumbersome UI.

When your personal cash flow has restored following splashes on Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls however, what’s next? Well before the likes of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, you can indulge in some helpful accessories for your new console.

So what accessories are worth your time? Here’s a rundown of the best peripherals for your PS5.

DualSense Charging Station

While Sony has boasted about the DualSense’s battery life, it still seems to run out of juice alarmingly quick. If you want a handy solution, an official DualSense charging station might be the ticket - offering the ability to charge two controllers at once.

It’s especially useful considering you can only charge one controller through the PS5’s USB-C port on the front of the console.

A headset

If you’re looking for an efficient headset for the PS5, the Pulse 3D Wireless headset is what Sony has been officially marketing alongside the console. They’re essentially built to capitalise on the PS5 hardware, including the 3D Audio through the PS5’s Tempest Engine.

There’s other alternatives too. Turtle Beach have built a deserved reputation for reliably superb headsets, and the Stealth 700 Gen 2 model, which similarly uses the 3D Audio technology and works across PS4 too, is an excellent treat worth the lofty price.

Amazon - Pulse 3D Wireless headset for £89.99

Turtle Beach - Stealth 700 Gen 2 Headset for £129.99

PS5 hard drive

While you can’t transfer PS5 games to an external hard drive (as of yet, anyway), it’s still worth storing your PS4 titles on an external hard drive to save space.

Toshiba and Seagate have some affordable 1TB hard drives which start around the £50 mark. When purchasing a hard drive for console gaming purposes, just make sure to check it’s compatible with PlayStation or Xbox consoles.

Amazon - Seagate 1TB Expansion for £49.99

Amazon - Toshiba Canvio Gaming 1TB for £46.99

PS5 Media Remote

While this isn’t exactly essential, the official PS5 media remote is still useful - especially when faced with some of the unintuitive UI quirks on the new console.

It also includes a microphone for voice recognition, allowing you to simply scream ‘Netflix’ from across the room and boot up directly into the app.

The PS5’s HD Camera sports two 1080p lenses for great video quality, which is an ideal beginner’s item for any bidding Twitch streamer.

It’s also very easy to fix onto your TV screen, with a clamshell design nestling subtly on the top.
