How long does it take to beat Metroid Dread?

Metroid Dread is finally here, marking the first time in over 19 years since we had a new 2D Samus Aran adventure. Developed by MercurySteam, the team that was also behind Samus Returns, Dread doesn't pull its punches.

Filled with different biomes, secret locations, and plenty of upgrades to find, Metroid Dread can feel daunting to complete, which has led many to wonder how much time do you have to dedicate to the Metroidvania to complete the story or go for a 100% run.

Of course, each players' time to finish Metroid Dread will differ, but there's always an average amount you'll have to dedicate to it to reach certain goals or accomplishments.

As of the time of writing and according to How Long to Beat, it will take anywhere from seven to nine hours to complete Metroid Dread.

Of course, there are extra secrets you can pick up and discover along the way, so, a bit more than nine hours might be required if your goal is to take your time with the game.

If you are trying to go for a completionist run, the time you'll need to sink in goes up to at least 11 hours.

All of this is taking into account a lot of things, including not getting stuck, with many players thinking they're getting soft locked out of the game.

Our recommendation is to simply enjoy at your own pace, and if you ever get stuck, just be sure to search every nook and cranny for that elusive secret or upgrade to help you progress.
