We've seen the franchise push things forward in recent years, and MLB The Show 24 Road to the Show will be no different. In a huge announcement, Sony San Diego has confirmed the game will offer a women's career mode storyline for the first time. The news comes just weeks after we learned Toni Stone would be the first woman in the game's decades long history, and it looks like Road to the Show will be breaking some ground as well.

Last year, MLB The Show 23 took the franchise up a notch with the first Storylines: Negro Leagues spotlight paying homage and illuminating that era of baseball history to a new audience. They're continuing that this year with Toni Stone joining the Negro Leagues Season 2 lineup, but she won't be the only way to play as a woman in MLB The Show 24.

Road to the Show, the longtime career mode for this series, is getting a major upgrade with the ability for players to use a female ballplayer. The unique storyline dubbed Road to the Show: Women Pave Their Way will follow your ballplayer and their childhood friend as a bond is formed while both of you break ground in Major League Baseball.

"This feature was inspired by the stories of women in baseball," said Narrative Designer Mollie Braley. "Throughout history, women have been making waves in the sport. These include legends such as Toni Stone, who was one of the first women ever to play professional baseball, and has a new Storyline in MLB The Show 24. Our team wanted to create something where dreams become a reality, and we felt like adding this to Road to the Show was the perfect opportunity that gave our players the option to experience this."

While not mentioned in the reveal, this and the news of Toni Stone joining the game should also mean women will be playable in Diamond Dynasty. Last year they introduced Diamond Dynasty cards for each of the Negro Leagues players, and your Road to the Show Ballplayer has been usable in Diamond Dynasty for a few years now.
