Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak - Best Long Sword Build And Skills

Learn how to create the best Long Sword build in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak and make use of the most important skills available.
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak - Best Long Sword Build And Skills

As one of the most popular weapons in the game, there are going to be plenty of Long Sword users within Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak looking for the best build possible. In the expansion update, the weapon was brought down a tier and has been replaced by ranged weapons among others.

This by no means is an indication that the Long Sword is bad, and it still remains a strong A-Tier weapon within the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak meta.

But to make the most of the popular weapon, you'll need the best Long Sword build that can be used in mid to late game. Our guide will outline some of the best armor pieces and the skills that are the most important.

There are two main weapon build types in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, and an important decision will need to be made when crafting the best Long Sword build. In most cases, builds will follow a raw or an elemental option that can be carried through most of the end game. Ranged weapons and Dual Blades in particular have skyrocketed because of the elemental buffs.

Elemental builds aren't a bad option for the Long Sword in Sunbreak depending on the monster fight in question, but raw builds are typically the way to go. Not only is more base damage packed in each combo, but the build itself will be more versatile across the full monster roster. Below you will find the best armor pieces and the skills they provide.

  • Kaiser Crown X - Critical Eye Lvl 3, Critical Boost Lvl 1.
  • Archfiend Armor Baulo - Weakness Exploit Lvl 1, Resentment Lvl 1, and Chain Crit Lvl 1.
  • Barios Vambraces X - Quick Sheathe Lvl 1, Maximum Might Lvl 1, Critical Eye Lvl 2.
  • Rathalos Coil X - Attack Boost Lvl 2, Windproof Lvl 3, Critical Boost Lvl 1.
  • Ingot Greaves X - Attack Boost Lvl 2, Critical Eye Lvl 2.
  • Talisman - Quick Sheathe Lvl 2 or Fatal Tempest
  • Long Sword options - Abyssal Flicker (priority) of Darkest Night for raw build.
  • Additional armor - Lunagaron Helm, Pyre-Kadaki, Regios Vambraces

For the Long Sword choices themselves, the Darkest Night weapon has a ton of base damage and affinity to rely on. But with this build, much of that additional affinity will be overkill, and it's used to compensate for the negatives on the Abyssal Flicker.

There are also some skills on here that will need to be boosted by gems and skills that are geared towards the best Long Sword builds. Not every skill listed on the armor is integral, such as Windproof, and that's why the decorations will be there to compensate. Regardless of the build you use, paying attention to the skills you need will guide you.

Earning the decorations you want is going to take some time and luck to earn the monster parts that you need. Because the decoration slots are so much larger in late-game armor as well, you're going to have plenty of grinding to get those hard-hitting gems in your build.

Many of your most important skills can be found above, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Below you will find the skills you need on the raw Long Sword build, and the approximate level that you should aim for.

  • Critical Eye Lvl 7 (max)
  • Attack Boost Lvl 7 (max)
  • Critical Boost Lvl 3 (max)
  • Weakness Exploit Lvl 3 (max)
  • Speed Sharpening Lvl 3 (max)
  • Quick Sheathe Lvl 3 (max)
  • Flinch Free Lvl 1
  • Dragon Attack Lvl 1-4
  • Maximum Might Lvl 1

Overall, the skills that you want on a raw Long Sword build are straightforward, and it's what makes the build so appealing. Focus on weapons that are versatile while applying skills based on pure damage and critical damage across the board. With the right Silkbind Attacks as well, such as the Tempered Spirit Blade, you'll be cutting through monsters in minutes.
