How To Get Vikavolt And Grubbin In Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO gets the Alolan Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt as the main course debuts for the upcoming August Bug Out! event.
How To Get Vikavolt And Grubbin In Pokémon GO

Vikavolt was noticeably missing from the Season of Alolan content map in Pokémon GO, and after yet another season, the Bug-type from Generation VII is finally making a debut. Trainers who participate in the Bug Out! event in mid-august can catch this unique Bug-type Pokémon for themselves.

It's not uncommon for Niantic to save Pokémon with three forms for a major event debut. Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt are the three different forms in this case. Of course, you likely won't find all three of them in the wild, regardless of where you decide to walk around. You'll need some candy instead and plenty of spare Poké Balls.

Most of the major Bug-types are featured in the Bug Out! event, but that doesn't mean they all have an equal way of appearing. There is a set list of Pokémon that will spawn in the wild for example, and on that list, we can find Grubbin for the first time.

During the event, which is live from August 10 to August 16, Grubbin will appear in the wild where anyone can encounter the Alolan Bug-type. You won't need to worry about a special ticket or an exclusive item to get your hands on this debut. But it won't hurt to have some extra incense on hand if you want to increase your spawns.

Grubbin will typically be an easy find, but Charjabug and Vikavolt will be a different story. It's possible for a second form like Charjabug to appear in the wild, but those appearances are rare and unlikely to happen. Instead, you'll need to catch around nine different Grubbin for 25 candies.

Once you have a Charjabug, you're going to need another 100 candies for the final Vikavolt evolution. That would take another 34 catches for three candies at a base level. But if you transfer your extras and use Pinap Berries, you may only need another 15 catches.

Sometimes, a debut Pokémon can be found in eggs or within lower-level raids for some easy candies. The only other way to get Grubbin will be through Field Research Tasks, so those methods are off the table. Raids will really only help if you are looking towards the Mega Scizor debut.

Grubbin and Vikavolt will still be available in Pokémon GO after the event is over, but you may have more trouble getting your hands on consistent spawns. Try to take advantage of the Bug-type event while you can for an easy addition to your Pokédex.
