Test Your Mettle is the next event coming to Pokémon GO, and as a bonus surprise, new Additional Ultra Beasts have made an appearance. Both Celesteela and Kartana are available to catch starting on September 13, sometime before the event.

Ultra Beasts follow many of the same rules that Legendary Pokémon have in GO, including the methods to catch them. However, there are some differences in items and regions that need to be accounted for. Our guide will tell you how to get both of the Ultra Beasts for your own collection.

While Test Your Mettle will begin on September 16, both Celesteela and Kartana are available to battle immediately. To try and earn one for yourself, you'll have to jump into five-star raids. The raids that have Ultra Beasts in them are always marked by the signature wormholes that the beasts come from.

Before you jump into a raid, keep in mind that the new Ultra Beasts are regional locked. Niantic hasn't said why but regionals have been a feature in Pokémon GO for a long time. Celesteela is locked to raids in the Southern Hemisphere and Kartana can be found in Northern Hemisphere raids.

Like always, you can do five-star raids in person or with a remote raid pass. You can earn at least one free raid pass each day when you go to a gym in person. With enough players and a pass, you can get at least one of these beasts for free. Eventually, you'll have to use a remote raid pass to get Celesteela or Kartana depending on your region.

Ultra Beasts are strong and you'll need a decent Trainer lineup to take them down. Counters are always a plus in Pokémon GO as well. Within no time, you can burn the beasts down and earn an encounter after the rewards screen pops up.

Another difference between Ultra Beasts and Legendary Pokémon is the Poké Balls. Upon victory, you'll earn Beast Balls for Celesteela or Kartana. In the past, it has only taken one Beast Ball to catch the encounter reward, but that could change in the future. It's always smart to use berries and excellent throws.
