Pokémon fans have been speculating whether the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 celebration would occur after hosting real-life gatherings was made nearly impossible, thanks to COVID-19. Fortunately, Niantic has an answer, prompting players to mark their calendars for June and August this year.
The first Pokémon GO Fest started in 2017 in Chicago's Grant Park, with subsequent events hosted annually until 2019. Since then, Niantic has hosted fully digital or restricted in-person events. So, it's been nearly three years since the last "proper" GO Fest.
Here's everything you need to know about Pokémon GO Fest 2022, including the dates, locations, and how the event differs from the previous celebrations.
Pokémon GO Fest 2022 - Global Event
According to a recent Niantic press release, Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will feature a digital global event starting on 4th June 2022 and ending on 5th June 2022. In addition, fans will also be able to participate in a global finale event on 27th August 2022.

Niantic has yet to reveal which Pokémon will be involved in the event, but one Pokémon will likely be Unown since different forms of Unown have shown up at every past Pokémon GO Fest.
The last Pokémon GO Fest took place in 2021 and was reportedly a massive hit with players, despite involving mostly digital events and some in-person gatherings. Players caught over 1.5 billion Pokémon, visited PokéStops 900 million times and completed almost 25 million raids.
