Wild Rift Rengar guide: Best runes, items, tips, and more

The Patch 2.2b has arrived in League of Legends: Wild Rift, bringing much new content for the mobile game including more skins and items to customize your profile and your experience on the Rift, as well as revealing the debut of two hunters looking to exterminate each for vengeance and pride.

The first one we will talk about in this guide has been one of the most dominant champions since the early years of the game, defining a lot of incredible moments due to his power as a predator and his abilities which make him the biggest danger around any bush. Introducing Rengar, the Pridestalker.

Rengar’s active and passive abilities

With his passive, Unseen Predator, Rengar can leap automatically to his target after being inside a brush. This passive also empowers Rengar’s next ability thanks to his Ferocity stacks, increasing his Movement Speed a few seconds, and gives him more damage for each unique champion killed.

Let's move on to his active skills:

  • Savagery: Rengar's next attack brutally stabs his target, making bonus damage. With Ferocity, this skill will deal increased damage and grant Attack Speed.
  • Battle Roar: Rengar unleashes a battle roar, damaging nearby enemies, and healing for some of the recent damage he has taken. With Ferocity, this skill also removes crowd control effects on him.
  • Bola Strike: Rengar throws a bola, which will slow the first target hit for a short duration. With Ferocity, the bola will instead root the target.
  • Ultimate - Thrill of the Hunt: Rengar's hunter instinct overpowers him, going into camouflage and revealing the closest enemy champion in a wide radius around him. During Thrill of the Hunt, Rengar gains movement speed and can pounce on the tracked enemy without being in brush, reducing their armor.

Runes and spells recommended for Rengar

  • Electrocute: Triggers on successful skill combos and trades, dealing bonus damage to affected enemies and increasing her burst damage.
  • Weakness: Increases your team's damage to opponents slowed or with crowd control effects.
  • Spirit Walker: Grants additional health and slow resistance.
  • Pathfinder: Grants bonus movement speed when walking through the jungle, bushes, or the river.

Being exclusively played as a jungle, his summoner spells options are more than obvious:

  • Flash: Allows you to have more offensive options when entering combat, in addition to serving as an escape tool.
  • Smite: The Jungler's default spell. You can use its blue variation to slow down enemies and ensure kills, or its red variation in the case of going against jungles with good offence.

The best items for Rengar

Rengar’s comp will be focused on exploiting his slow and stun abilities, while also increasing his Attack Damage and damage capabilities enough to become a threat for everyone, and giving him a little tenacity and protection to survive the teamfight dives.

  • Youmuu's Ghostblade: Grants bonus attack damage, ability haste, and armour penetration. Its passive allows you to deal additional magic damage with each attack.
  • Gluttonous Greaves: Grants omnivampirism, giving you a better chance of surviving in fights. We recommend using it with Mercury charm for crowd control.
  • Duskblade of Draktharr: Grants bonus attack damage, cooldown reduction, and armour penetration. Also, if you attack after hiding from the enemy, your attacks will deal more damage and slow them down.
  • Death’s Dance: Converts a percentage of the damage taken into delayed damage, giving you more room to be in the fight along with his physical omnivampirism.
  • Guardian Angel: Its revive effect allows you to fully attack squarely, without risking giving away a kill along the way.

As for the last item, you can either choose the Black Cleaver for enemies based on armor, or the Maw of Malmortius to face opponents focused on ability power.

Tips for Rengar’s playstyle

rengar tips and tricks

Rengar is a feline hunter who has tormented many players in both the mid lane and the bot lane since his release several years ago, having different tools at hand to hunt unsuspecting opponents, without them being able to respond to his attacks.

Being able to use Rengar efficiently requires good decision-making and a lot of patience, in order to find the perfect moment and go towards the target to take the kill.

When facing an enemy or planning an ambush, choosing the right skill can be the difference between ensuring a kill or being sent home empty-handed, so keep your eyes open and always look for the right position from a brush and launch your Strike Ball to start the assault to the enemy.

Once your siege begins, try to use your Savagery to temporarily increase your offensive power, and then your Battle Roar to avoid some kind of crowd control and heal yourself a bit so that you can continue attacking.

Regarding the use of his Ultimate, this ability will allow you to have a wide range of options to visualize the enemy and get a sense of where they are, so you can make the right choice and go for those who have no way to defend themselves or escape.

The basis of Rengar will lie a lot in how you do your rotations and how you control the ambushes, so try to practice various attack routes in the jungle to improve your skills and eliminate anyone you find in front of you without much problem.

With this our guide for Rengar the Pridestalker comes to an end, so don’t waste your time more and try it now in the game. Don't forget to check out more champion guides, as well as new updates through our Wild Rift dedicated section.
