We are just hours away from the debut of Season 10 of Apex Legends, titled “Emergence”, and developers Respawn have shared all details about the content we can expect to arrive with the latest update of their battle royale turned arena shooter.

Featuring the introduction of a legend with an arsenal full of technology, a new mid-range weapon that packs a serious punch, many drastic changes to the World's Edge map, and the addition of the Ranked Arenas mode, there is a lot for players new and old to get their teeth into.

Seer debuts in Apex Legends

Seer will be the new legend joining the game’s roster in Season 10, bringing with him a unique set of abilities based on high technology, and enemy location skills.

His passive Heart Seeker allows Seer to visualize and hear the heartbeats of nearby enemies when aiming down sights to get a clue to their location, being also able to “ADS” even while not holding a weapon, and with his Recon class passive, he can scan survey beacons to reveal the next circle’s location.

As for his tactical, Focus of Attention, Seer can summon microdrones to emit a focused, delayed blast that goes through walls, revealing enemies, their health bars, and interrupting their actions. With his Ultimate, Exhibit, Seer can create a sphere of microdrones that reveal the footsteps of enemies moving quickly or firing their weapons within.

World's Edge map updates

After months of aggressive mining by the Harvester on World's Edge, the land will be overmined, overburdened, and pushed to its limit, as the lands around it have fractured and erupted as nature is reclaiming what’s hers.

Due to this, the Refinery will now be wiped out by a molten lava fissure and replaced with a much bigger POI called Climatizer, where Hammond has constructed massive cloud seeding towers to cool down World’s Edge, supporting a lot more teams and provides them with much more loot to fight over.

The planet has also fractured all the way from the Climatizer to Fragment East, with a bubbling lava river connecting the two, and introducing more meaningful decision-making while rotating in the north, as well as creating distinct combat chokes.

The latest seismic activity in the area has caused severe damages as well, demolishing the Train Yard and swallowing up the Sorting Factory by a massive sinkhole, being replaced with a big POI called Lava Siphon.

Last but not least, to facilitate movement and rotations around World’s Edge, Respawn will reintroduce the moving gondolas in two of the new POIs, Climatizer and Lava Siphon, along with a new entry at the dead-end of Overlook, and a connection between Geyser and Overlook.

New weapon: Rampage LMG

Season 10 will add into the game Rampart’s latest creation, the Rampage LMG, a high-powered heavy ammo LMG that takes its time to recharge, but packs one hell of a punch.

The Rampage will excel at mid-range combat but struggle up close with a slower fire rate, however, its modified internal combustion mechanism based on thermite will power up its damage potential, as players will be able to cause a rampage around the battlefield.

Introducing Ranked Arenas

After weeks of rumours, with the launch of the Emergence update, Respawn will introduce Ranked Arenas. Players will begin their journey through 10 placement matches where their performance will determine their initial Match Marking Rank (MMR) and starting rank.

MMR variance is wider initially, so the first 10 matches might be stomp-or-get-stomped until the MMR defines your placement.

Since Arenas is a head-to-head fight between two teams of three, awarding Ranked Arenas Points is more cut-and-dry than in the 20 team battle royale. This means there is no entry cost and no AP for kills. Everything comes down to getting the win.

You can check out more info on how Ranked Arenas will work at first, in the game’s official blog.

Gameplay changes

Some other announced updates within Season 10 include:

  • New badges for win streaks
  • “Hold On” responses to enemy pings
  • Added distinct sound effects to the Gold Backpack’s revive
  • Update Heirloom store to give players a better view of all the items related to that item
  • Updated Open Pack Button to show how many packs of each type are available to open

Later on, we will cover everything announced on metagame updates, as well as all tiers and rewards available in this season’s Battle Pass, so stay tuned.

Apex Legends’ Season 10 Emergence will be available on 2nd August.
