Dead By Daylight Killers We Hope To See In 2023

A new year of terror is upon us in Dead by Daylight, so let's take a look at all of the killers we hope to see added to the game this year.
Dead By Daylight Killers We Hope To See In 2023

Dead by Daylight has accrued a huge roster of 30 killers since its release back in 2016. Many of those killers are icons of famous horror franchises - such as Silent Hill's Pyramid Head and Halloween's Michael Myers - while others are original characters. With so many great killers already in the game, players are excited to see which players will come to the game next, and there is speculation all over the internet about who could enter Dead by Daylight's fog this year.

Here's a list of all the iconic characters we hope to see added to Dead by Daylight as killers in 2023.

Update 13th March 2023 - Now that Dead by Daylight's Chapter 27 - Tools of Torment is behind us, the release of Chapter 28 - the game's 7th anniversary chapter - is just over the horizon. Could it contain one of the killers we've listed in this article? We'll find out soon!

Springtrap (Five Nights At Freddy's)

One of the characters fans most want to see in Dead by Daylight is Springtrap from the popular horror game Five Nights at Freddy's. He's been a fan favorite for a long time, and with filming starting soon on the Five Nights At Freddy's movie, people have been clamoring for him to make an appearance in Dead by Daylight.

Because Springtrap is such a popular character, many fans have created fan concepts showing what he might look like in Dead by Daylight. Springtrap's abilities in Dead by Daylight could be an amalgamation of his abilities in Five Nights at Freddy's, such as his superhuman strength and ability to seamlessly blend into the shadows.

Candyman (Candyman)

One of the most iconic horror characters of all time, fans are eager to see Candyman added as a killer to Dead by Daylight in 2023. The slasher has been featured in various iterations since 1992's original movie - including a recent 2021 release - and would surely bring a new flavor of terror to the game.

Fans have suggested some ideas for what Candyman's power might look like in the game. Some suggest that he could turn into a swarm of bees, mimicking motifs from the movie, while others imagine him being able to use his iconic hook to kill and Mori survivors.

Chucky (Child's Play)

Chucky might be small, but fans' want for him to be added to Dead by Daylight certainly isn't. As one of the most iconic characters of all time, fans have been asking for a long time whether Chucky might be added to the game. In fact, in a 2021 interview with GLHF, Dead by Daylight creative director Dave Richard was asked directly whether Chucky might be added to the game.

"I would be interested," Richard said in the interview. "Chucky is definitely an iconic horror character."

Fans have noted that it might be challenging to add Chucky to the game due to his small size; after all, killers need to be able to reach hooks and other important gameplay features to finish trials. Richard touched on this potential issue, though, mentioning that there is already a tiny killer in the game: Victor, who is one of the two twins who make up the killer, The Twins. "There's always a way to make it work," Richard said.

Fans have toyed (no pun intended) with many different ideas for Chucky's potential power and perks. For example, one Reddit user created a concept in which Chucky could hide in certain toy Chests placed throughout the trial. He would be able to erupt from them at will and teleport between them, adding an element of surprise. They even suggested that the killer might be able to possess survivors, a gameplay mechanic that has never been present in Dead by Daylight but could certainly be interesting.

Pennywise (It)

Dead by Daylight might already have a clown in the form of, well, The Clown, but that doesn't mean fans don't want to see perhaps the most iconic clown killer of all time, Pennywise. Pennywise from It would certainly fit right in in the Fog, especially right next to Dead by Daylight's own similar original character. He suits the game's brand of horror perfectly, both in appearance and in his source's content.

There are many ways Pennywise's powers could be incorporated into Dead by Daylight to create a truly terrifying and unique experience for survivors, particularly by using his iconic red balloons to foster some atmospheric horror.

Those are all of the Dead by Daylight killers we hope to see added to the game in 2023, as well as what their powers might be. Dead by Daylight might have a lot of killers to choose from already, but we can't wait to see which ones will be added this year!
