Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Start Time
Bungie has confirmed that Season of the Deep will kick off on 23rd May 2023. Expect the update to go live at the weekly reset time of 5 PM UTC / 10 AM GMT.
Do note that before the release of the update, there's likely to be Server Maintenance for a good few hours before the game comes back online.
Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Story, Explained
As of this writing, Bungie hasn't confirmed what Season of the Deep will be about. The studio has, however, confirmed that Season of the Deep would add a new quest that will apparently take players back to Neomuna and clear the air around the enigmatic Veil from the Lightfall campaign. Completing this quest will also unlock the new Strand Aspects and a new Legendary Hand Cannon.
As far as the season's story is concerned, the official key art suggests that Sloane, Zavala's deputy commander, will return for the first time since fighting the hives on the planet Titan. Speaking of Titan, it seems the coastal planet will be returning in Season of the Deep, though we might be exploring it from below the surface and not above the surface as before.
What Is the Price of Destiny 2 Season of the Deep
This is quite important - Bungie is increasing the price of the Destiny 2 season pass from Season of the Deep. Instead of 1000 Silver, players have to spend 1200 Silver to buy the season pass. Additionally, the Season Pass + 10 Rank bundle will now cost 2200 Silver instead of 2000.
New Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Strand Aspects
Every class is receiving a new Strand subclass Aspect in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep. These are:
Hunter: Threaded Specter
"Activate your class ability to leave behind a decoy woven from Strand matter that draws the attention of nearby combatants."
Warlock: The Wanderer
"Tangles you throw attach to enemies and detonate into a suspending burst. Threadling final blows create a Tangle. After taking significant damage or when combatants approach, the decoy detonates, dealing damage and releasing Threadlings that seek out and attack nearby foes."
Titan: Flechette Storm
"While sliding, activate your charged melee ability to leap into the air, knocking nearby targets away and dealing damage. While airborne, activate your charged melee again to launch a cluster of damaging, Unraveling projectiles. Repeatedly activating melee will chain additional throws."
New Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Armor Sets
We now have our first proper look at the Season of the Deep armor sets for all classes. Interestingly enough, Bungie is also adding three new exotic armor this season, so players have a lot to look forward to. Speaking of exotics, Warlock players may be interested to know that Bungie is adding a new Starfire Protocol Ornament, which looks incredible.
New Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Weapons
Season of the Deep adds a new exotic arc auto rifle that has an uncanny resemblance to another exotic auto rifle Tommy's Matchbook. In addition to this, we get a new set of seasonal legendaries, including a new Handcannon, SMG, Shotgun, Fusion Rifle, Sniper Rifle, and Sword.
Surprisingly, Bungie is also bringing new Gambit weapons in Season of the Deep, which visually look similar to the Seasonal weapons.
Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Power Cap
Unlike Season of the Seraph, Bungie is not increasing the pinnacle power cap in Season of the Deep. However, the studio has confirmed that it's reducing the drop rate of Pinnacle legendary rewards. Instead of these, players can now acquire focusable Powerful Exotic engrams.
Season of the Deep Exotic Armor Focusing Changes
Season of the Deep is also adding the option to focus exotic armor at Master Rahool. Two exotic focusing options will be available this season. These are:
- Red War: Exotic Helmets
- Red War: Exotic Arms
- Red War: Exotic Chests
- Red War: Exotic Legs
- Forsaken: Exotic Armor
- Shadowkeep: Exotic Armor
- Beyond Light: Exotic Armor
- The Witch Queen: Exotic Armor
- 1 Exotic engram
- 30,000 Glimmer
- 1 Ascendant Shard
- Focus specific Exotic armor for a higher price
- Players must have previously acquired that piece of armor
- 1 Exotic engram.
- 60,000 Glimmer.
- 3 Ascendant Shards.
- 1 Exotic Cipher.
New Destiny 2 Season of the Deep Dungeon
Season of the Deep adds a new three-player dungeon called Ghosts of the Deep. It's an underwater dungeon with environments that resemble Savathun's Throne World. It also features Lucent Hive enemies among other things.
That's pretty much everything players need to know about Destiny 2 Season of the Deep.
