Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between after the Elden Ring gets destroyed and its shards called Great Runes are now ruled over by demigod offsprings of Queen Marika the Eternal.

However, all of the rulers i.e. Godrick the Grafted, General Radahn, Praetor Rykard, Morgott the Grace-Given, and Rennala are now at war against each other to capture the other runes of Elden Ring.

The Tarnished is an exile who is called back to the Lands Between to repair the Elden Ring and become the next Elden Lord. You will have to beat various bosses along with all the demigods to recover all the shards and finally go to the Erdtree.

Not much is known about the world as of now including where The Tarnished has come from and how was the Lands Between before the Elden Ring got destroyed. You will have to spend hundreds of hours in the game to get to know every bit of the world and its story but as other players progress, you should be able to get more information about it.

You can have a look at its story trailer of Elden Ring below to get to know about the game's story better.
