We've all had run-ins with embarrassing names over our gaming careers. Whether you defaulted to a randomly generated name to get into the game quicker or have outgrown being referred to as "dragonsniper123," changing your in-game name has become common practice across most recent titles.

So, if you've made a mistake with your name in Overwatch 2 or just don't feel like using it anymore, there is a solution. This is how to change your name in Overwatch 2

To change your name in Overwatch 2, you must change your BattleTag. This is your in-game username across all Battle.net-supported games. This is done through several easy steps.

  1. Head to the official Blizzard website.
  2. Log in to your Battle.net account.
  3. Click on your current user name in the top right corner.
  4. Click Account Settings > Account Details.
  5. Scroll down to your BattleTage and click update.
  6. After this, you will be presented with a section to input your new name.
  7. Type in your desired new BattleTag and if it is available, click update, and you should be good to go!

It should be noted that while the first BattleTag change is free, subsequent changes will incur a $10 fee.

Additionally, the process can take up to 24 hours to finish, so don't be concerned if your name change doesn't go through immediately. However, if 24 hours elapse and your name hasn't changed, contact Blizzard support.
