Progressing with their in-game adventures in Palia can be achieved by completing quests, mastering Skills, and getting acquainted with the Villagers. The Friendship mechanic is crucial as they will learn more about each Villager by understanding their backstories and sharing experiences with them.
Increasing their friendship levels is important as it can unlock unique questlines, features, and plenty of rewards to claim. Players looking to further their bonds with Villagers can learn the best ways to increase their Friendship levels with them in Palia.
How To Increase The Friendship Levels In Palia?
When starting to befriend Villagers, players will know that conversing with them once each Palian day is one of the first ways to earn Friendship points or XP to raise Friendship levels. However, there are other ways to achieve this and increase it more significantly, which can be rewarding for players.
Firstly, players should increase their Friendship levels with Villagers through the Gifting mechanic by giving them items they’re looking for. These are called Weekly Wants, which are different from the standard gifts players can give them, which players can discover when speaking to the Villager or learning from others.
There are four Weekly Wants available for a week, and they can only gift them a Weekly Want once a week where gifting one item from their Weekly Wants, which includes two Liked and two Loved gifts. Weekly Wants will reset weekly on Sunday at 4 am UTC, and they can consult various trackers, including PaliaNPC and Palia Tracker, to learn what the current Weekly Wants are for each Villager before the reset.
Speaking of gifting, players can gift Villagers random gifts every other real-world day; each Villager’s preferences determine these gifts. The daily gifts also have a reset period, which occurs daily at 9 pm PST / 12 am EST / 5 am UTC, and they can use the abovementioned tracker to view which daily gifts can be accepted by the Villagers.
Don’t forget that players can also gift Villagers with Starstones, mined from stone and ore nodes found throughout Kilima Village and Bahari Bay. Each Villager, excluding Einar, Hekkla, and Tau, is assigned a Luna Sign, their astrological star sign with a corresponding Starstone that can be gifted to the Villager.
They can receive a Starstone once weekly and share the same Friendship points or XP as a Loved gift. Starstones also have a reset period, in which players have until Sunday at 4 am UTC to gift Villagers a Starstone.
Likewise, Einar can receive a unique gift where players can find Shiny Pebbles throughout the open world. He can receive a Shiny Pebble every real-world day; however, it will lock out players from gifting him a Weekly Want or other gifts for that given day, and finding all the pebbles completes the Pebble Plunder Accomplishment.
Once players have unlocked the following Friendship level with a Villager, this unlocks their Friendship quests, which completing these quests will reward them with various items and Renown. Additionally, players will also be granted increased Friendship for completing their Friendship, which helps further their Friendship levels to unlock the next quest.
After players have reached Friendship Level 3 or maxed out their Friendship levels, various Villagers can be romanced, which can be triggered by gifting them two unique items. They can gift them a Box of Chocolates or the rare Heartdrop Lily, unlocking their Romance quests, and increase their Romance with them by giving them the chocolates or Heartdrop Lilies.
