Throughout the last five main story quests, Subira has grown more suspicious of Tamala and her motives for being in The Elderwood, in which she tasked Palians to learn what her ulterior motives are. This was explored in the One Step Behind quest; however, their discoveries had rather unfortunate consequences as they had a spell placed on them and were locked up inside a lair.
Dealing with this series of unfortunate events, fortune does indeed favor the bold as they discover a hidden cave leading back to the overworld, but a lost friend of Naio's has been found. This guide details everything about the Like A Shiprunt quest by highlighting its objectives and providing a walkthrough to help Palians through this perilous situation in Palia.
Palia Like A Shiprunt Quest Objectives List
Following the events of the One Step Behind quest, Tamala discovers that Palians have found the Beast's Lair and responds dismissively to claims that she's hiding something or hindering the investigation. As punishment, she placed a spell on them that prevented them from revealing or speaking badly about her while trapping them inside the cave.
As such, not only must they deal with this spell, but they must also find a way out of the lair, and along the way, they finally meet the boy whom Nai'o had been looking for, but he, too, may need some help. Let's look at the quest objectives to help Palians complete this quest:
- Find another way out of the Beast's Lair.
- Find a way to break the vine.
- Look for any clues to help you.
- Keep looking for an exit.
- Find the key for the trap door.
- Keep looking for a way out.
- Find a way to the trapped boy.
- Check in with the boy.
- Talk to Subira.
How To Complete The Like A Shiprunt Quest In Palia?
This quest immediately begins after completing the One Step Behind quest, as Palians are now locked up inside the Beast's Lair after finding out about Tamala's "side project." Palians will now have to find a way out of the lair, which, using the clues from the aforementioned quest, may help them find a path leading back to the Elderwood overworld.
If they read the Abandoned Notes, they'll learn that the Umbraans adopted various Ancient practices, with the water pedestals being one of which; during the Ancient Battery quest, they had to pour water from their Fine or Exquisite Watering Can into the pedestal to solve a riddle. The same method can be applied in this quest as Palians can find water pedestals, the first being inside the Beast's Lair to infuse themselves with Flow and destroy a vine across from the pedestal's location to find a Treasure Chest to loot.
Climb up the netted wall to find a temple door to enter, and they'll enter a cavern with its path blocked by the vines and a pedestal nearby, which they can pour water into to gain Flow and destroy the vines using their Fine or Exquisite Axe. They'll find a room littered with various objects and a trap door leading into a "Hidden Cave," where they must find a key somewhere in this room, and they can look to the five sand mounds to dig up a key using the Gardening Hoe.
Once the key is found, unlock the trapdoor to enter the "Hidden Cave," and as soon as they enter it, they'll find a mysterious person who happens to be trapped within the vines. They must find a way to free him by finding a water pedestal and pouring water onto it to imbue themselves with Flow to chop the vines down.
There are two blocked paths and a water pedestal to be found, which, after pouring water onto it, can destroy the vines to the left and right of the pedestal. Taking the pathway to the left of the pedestal and making a right turn at the dead end, they'll find a secret area on the left, which jumps onto the platform; they'll find another water pedestal and two more sets of vines on either side to chop down.
Once imbued with Flow and chopping the vines down, take the pathway on the left side of the pedestal and slide down before turning right at the cross-section and making their way up the passage to find another water pedestal. Repeat the action of pouring water into it to gain Flow, and chop down two more sets of vines further upwards from the pedestal, and follow the passage on the right to progress.
Slide down this passage before making a right turn, follow the route until the end, jump to the right side, and land on a large tree root while moving forward to find another water pedestal. Once again, repeat the action of pouring water on it for some Flow before destroying the vines beside it and take a left turn and follow this maze-like path to destroy another set of vines, but if they run out of Flow, return to the pedestal and head back through the maze before destroying the remaining vines.
There is a water pedestal blocked by the vines, which they must free, and in doing so, they can pour water on it and backstep down the path to turn right by the red glowing area and destroy the vines to reach the "trapped boy" and destroy the last set of vines to free him. Check in with the "trapped boy," where he appears tense towards Palians, and there's a dialogue option to reveal to him that they're Nai'o's friend, which he responds positively to, and can proceed with speaking to him by choosing any dialogue options before Subira appears.
But this frightens the boy, and he disappears; in which Subira wishes to continue the conversation through the entrance she had opened up. They'll find themselves outside the Beast's Lair, where they can speak to Subira but are unable to reveal exactly what she has been up to due to the spell placed on them.
They can select the dialogue options to draw more suspicion towards her, specifically the Water dialogue options before she proceeds to give them the lab results, but she will share them once they return to the Elderwood Central Stables. Before departing, she hands them a Runestone that was dropped by the "trapped boy," which concludes this quest as Palians will receive the "Something Wicked" quest and 20 Renown upon its completion.
