Sons of the Forest, the highly anticipated sequel to 2014's The Forest, is set to launch soon, and fans eagerly await its release. With familiar features, exciting new gameplay mechanics, and a thrilling storyline, the survival horror game promises to be a great experience for players. However, one question that remains unanswered is whether Sons of the Forest will have crossplay functionality at launch. This article will explore the possibility of crossplay in Sons of the Forest and what it means for players.
Will Sons Of The Forest Be Crossplay?
The survival horror game, Sons of the Forest, will launch for PC via Steam on 23rd February 2023 through Steam Early Access as a PC-exclusive title. So, as a result, the answer is: no; Sons of the Forest will not be crossplay when it releases. But don't let that bum you out. Although the game won’t be coming to consoles at launch, the developers have expressed interest in a potential console release in the future.
With that in mind, it is reasonable that players might still wonder if developer Endnight Games will enable crossplay for Sons of the Forest when it releases on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. That said, the game's predecessor, The Forest, is available on multiple platforms but still lacks crossplay. But this doesn’t rule out crossplay for Sons of the Forest, as the developer could always make the exception.
Of course, the same could be said for bringing Sons of the Forest to Xbox consoles and making it available via Xbox Game Pass for both console and PC at some point in time. In addition, with the game launching via Early Access, the developer may introduce crossplay with the game's full version release. So, for now, we can only speculate what may or may not happen regarding Sons of the Forest and crossplay functionality. Still, there’s plenty to anticipate from the developer when the game releases later this month.
