Genshin Impact 2.1: All new characters, weapons, enemies, events and more

As players continue to grind added in the new missions and quests added in the Genshin Impact 2.0 update, fresh information about what we might see in the near future has begun to appear. Most of these leaks come from the beta for 2.1 showcasing new weapons, more characters, and future content for the Inazuma region.

As always, all the tentative content below contains SPOILERS from the game's main story, so you are warned.

Genshin Impact 2.1 Beta: Four new characters join the roster

As we covered in our first preview, the Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara and Sangonomiya Kokomi will be added in the next major update for the game, bringing with them the addition of new Archon Quests, along with some World Quests and Character Stories.

The Raiden Shogun serves as one of the main antagonists in the Inazuma arc, being one of the Seven Archons of Teyvat and also the supreme ruler of the Inazuma region. She will be a five-star Electro Polearm character with powerful abilities.

Meanwhile, Kujou Sara is one of the most loyal followers of the Raiden’s cruzade, as well as the leader Leader of the Tenryou Commission's forces, who are in charge of fulfilling the Vision Hunt Decree orders. She is a four-star Bow character who holds an Electro Vision as well.

Sangonomiya Kokomi is a Divine Priestess who serves as the leader and adviser of the Sangonomiya Resistance, an army of rebel Inazuman soldiers against the Raiden authority Shogun, with headquarters on the Watatsumi Island.

Lastly, Aloy from “Horizon Zero Dawn” will also be added to Genshin Impact as part of a new collaboration between miHoYo and Sony. All players will be able to redeem the character for free, first only on PS4 and PS5 during update 2.1, and then for all players on any platform in update 2.2, via in-game mail.

Genshin Impact 2.1 Beta: The Inazuma region expands

With new stories and challenges available with the release of the three characters mentioned above, two new areas from the Inazuma archipelago will be accessible with the arrival of the Genshin Impact 2.1 update.

First of all, and as you could probably guess, is Watatsumi Island. This mysterious place is fully engulfed in plants and trees everywhere, looking different colours than other islands, with a peaceful and tranquil environment dense in light blue flora.

Surrounded by a canopy of mountains and waterfalls, this island serves as the location of the Sangonomiya Shrine, the base for the resistance army led by Sangonomiya Kokomi, which opposes the Raiden Shogun's Vision Hunt Decree.

The next area available in this update will be Seirai Island, an extremely dangerous area, consumed by an eternal storm, of which not much is known about it at the moment.

However, looking at the aspect of the mysterious place, we can guess this will become one of the hardest areas of the game filled with powerful enemies, and maybe some incredible bosses.

Genshin Impact 2.1 beta: New Electro-styled and event weapons

Genshin Impact 2.0 update added five new weapons based on the Electro affinity of the Inazuma region, becoming part of the “Inazuma Series.” As of now, just one of these is available through the Epitome Invocation banner, Kamisato Ayaka’s essential weapon, the Mistsplitter’s Reforged.

However, as the others will be available for the Phase II of the update, a bunch of new weapons for the Inazuma Series, as well as a featured exclusive one for PlayStation users, and two more from a future event will be added to the game’s arsenal, being these:
