As always, all the tentative content below contains SPOILERS from the game's main story, so you are warned.
Genshin Impact 2.1 Beta: Four new characters join the roster
As we covered in our first preview, the Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara and Sangonomiya Kokomi will be added in the next major update for the game, bringing with them the addition of new Archon Quests, along with some World Quests and Character Stories.
The Raiden Shogun serves as one of the main antagonists in the Inazuma arc, being one of the Seven Archons of Teyvat and also the supreme ruler of the Inazuma region. She will be a five-star Electro Polearm character with powerful abilities.
Meanwhile, Kujou Sara is one of the most loyal followers of the Raiden’s cruzade, as well as the leader Leader of the Tenryou Commission's forces, who are in charge of fulfilling the Vision Hunt Decree orders. She is a four-star Bow character who holds an Electro Vision as well.
Sangonomiya Kokomi is a Divine Priestess who serves as the leader and adviser of the Sangonomiya Resistance, an army of rebel Inazuman soldiers against the Raiden authority Shogun, with headquarters on the Watatsumi Island.
Lastly, Aloy from “Horizon Zero Dawn” will also be added to Genshin Impact as part of a new collaboration between miHoYo and Sony. All players will be able to redeem the character for free, first only on PS4 and PS5 during update 2.1, and then for all players on any platform in update 2.2, via in-game mail.
Genshin Impact 2.1 Beta: The Inazuma region expands
With new stories and challenges available with the release of the three characters mentioned above, two new areas from the Inazuma archipelago will be accessible with the arrival of the Genshin Impact 2.1 update.
First of all, and as you could probably guess, is Watatsumi Island. This mysterious place is fully engulfed in plants and trees everywhere, looking different colours than other islands, with a peaceful and tranquil environment dense in light blue flora.
Surrounded by a canopy of mountains and waterfalls, this island serves as the location of the Sangonomiya Shrine, the base for the resistance army led by Sangonomiya Kokomi, which opposes the Raiden Shogun's Vision Hunt Decree.
The next area available in this update will be Seirai Island, an extremely dangerous area, consumed by an eternal storm, of which not much is known about it at the moment.
However, looking at the aspect of the mysterious place, we can guess this will become one of the hardest areas of the game filled with powerful enemies, and maybe some incredible bosses.
Genshin Impact 2.1 beta: New Electro-styled and event weapons
Genshin Impact 2.0 update added five new weapons based on the Electro affinity of the Inazuma region, becoming part of the “Inazuma Series.” As of now, just one of these is available through the Epitome Invocation banner, Kamisato Ayaka’s essential weapon, the Mistsplitter’s Reforged.
However, as the others will be available for the Phase II of the update, a bunch of new weapons for the Inazuma Series, as well as a featured exclusive one for PlayStation users, and two more from a future event will be added to the game’s arsenal, being these:
This Polearm increases the ATK by 28% of the current Energy Recharge over the base 100%. Its wielder can gain a maximum bonus of 80% and a 30% Energy Recharge for 12 seconds after using an Elemental Burst.
With this Catalyst, after the character equipped with it triggers an Electro elemental reaction, nearby party members of an Elemental Type involved in the elemental reaction will receive a 10% Elemental DMG Bonus for their element for six seconds. Elemental Bonuses gained in this way cannot be stacked.
This weapon will be exclusive to players on the PlayStation version, along with its passive that increases its wielder’s Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 10% for six seconds when dealing Cryo DMG, having a maximum of two stacks. Additionally, when Aloy equips it, her ATK will be increased by 66.
This hilarious weapon will be added as a limited-time event reward. Its Oceanic Victory passive increases Elemental Burst DMG by 12%. When Elemental Burst hits opponents, there is a 100% chance of summoning a titanic tuna that charges and deals 100% ATK as AoE DMG.
Last but not least, this Polearm will also be a reward for the same event from the previous weapon. Besides, its passive is less flashy as it only increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16%, and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%.
Genshin Impact 2.1 beta: New enemies and bosses
As new areas open through the Inazuma map, more powerful bosses and enemies will also make their appearance bringing new threats to face all around the Watatsumi and Seirai Islands.
La Signora is one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, atrocious people looking to collect all the Gnosis by orders of the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon from Snezhnaya. She will appear as a new weekly boss during update 2.1.
Electro Oceanid and Hydro Hypostasis
These two overworld bosses will also make their debut around Inazuma, featuring new Elemental forms different from their counterparts from the Mondstadt and Liyue nations. You can expect them to be strong and versatile, with new game patrons and powerful skills.
