Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak - Best Insect Glaive Build And Skills

Though it's not at the top of the meta in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, the Insect Glaive is still an incredibly fun and unique weapon with plenty of mobility. With the best build possible, it can easily be viable against nearly any monster in the game.

But for that to happen, you'll need to gather all of the right armor and decorations to ensure that the Glaive reaches its maximum potential. With the right skills in mind and the best armor combinations within Master Rank, you'll have the best Insect Glaive build ready to go in no time.

As a melee weapon to the core, the Glaive needs to be built in a way that takes advantage of critical hits and attack damage. However, it does rely far more on mobility and potential Silkbind Attacks than other classes might, especially for fighting on top of the monsters at hand. The Kinsect on the weapon will also change up the dynamic of a build.

Like every other weapon in the game, there are different damage types that Hunters can focus on as they make a build. Elemental damage and Raw damage are typically the most popular. For the best Insect Glaive build, we will focus on raw or piercing damage with the Kinsect. Elemental can be swapped in, but the base is all raw damage.

Below you will find all the armor you need for the build. Some additional options will be listed for those who want to experiment with their skills.

  • Kaiser Crown X - Critical Eye Lvl 3, Critical Boost Lvl 1
  • Archfiend Armor Baulo - Weakness Exploit Lvl 1, Chain Crit Lvl 1, Resentment Lvl 1
  • Barioth Braces X - Critical Eye Lvl 2, Maximum Might Lvl 1, Quick Sheathe Lvl 1
  • Rathalos Coil X - Windproof Lvl 3, Attack Boost Lvl 2, Critical Boost Lvl 2
  • Ingot Greaves X - Attack Boost Lvl 2, Critical Eye Lvl 2
  • Talisman - Weakness Exploit or Fatal Tempest
  • Insect Glaive options - Lemundslist+, Crimson Springwing, Abyssal Insectoid
  • Additional Armor options - Archfiend Armor Sceros, Sailor Skirt, Lunagaron Braces

Remember when you put this build together that this is only one aspect of it. Even if it's the most important, you still need to implement some decorations to make up for any missing skill levels. Depending on the armor you choose from above, the decorations will vary a little. But this guide will also go over all of the most important skills to have on the best Insect Glaive build.

When you look at the list of skills and levels you need for the Glaive, you'll notice that they are similar to weapons such as the Long Sword. Critical boosts, critical chance, and pure damage are the main focus for choosing decorations and armor skills.

Aside from the damage aspects of the build, wirebug effectiveness and weapon sheathing can also be some great quality of life adjustments. Below you will find all of the skills you need in the build and the level each should be at.

  • Attack Boost - Lvl 7
  • Critical Eye - Lvl 6 - Lvl 7
  • Weakness Exploit - Lvl 3
  • Critical Boost - Lvl 3
  • Ballistics - Lvl 3
  • Protective Polish - Lvl 3
  • Speed Sharpening - Lvl 2 or Lvl 3
  • Maximum Might - Lvl 1
  • Quick Sheathe - Lvl 1 to Lvl 2
  • Dereliction - Lvl 1
  • Chain Crit - Lvl 1

The first four skills are the most important for the best Insect Glaive build in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. For Crit-based melee weapons, the damage is king, especially for raw damage. Everything else still plays a role, but make sure your decorations can meet the first half.
