Epic Games Teases Fortnite Ranked Mode Officially
Epic Games has recently posted a short video teasing Fortnite Ranked Mode officially. “A new way to grab the Victory Royale is coming… Will you…
Fortnite is one of the most popular battle royales games currently available. It is an ever-evolving live-service title with weekly, as well as seasonal content that pushes the game’s narrative and adds nuances to the gameplay, all the while providing new explorable and playable maps.
Fortnite is developed by Epic Games, the studio responsible for the first three Gears of War games and the prequel Gears of War: Judgement. After going independent to fulfill its ambitions of making a successful live-service game, Epic Games started working on Fortnite. First revealed at 2011’s Spike Video Games (now called The Game Awards), Fortnite finally launched via early access in July 2017, with a full release later in 2018.
Fortnite’s story is spread throughout Chapters 1-3 and will continue to evolve with new Chapters. It’s an epic sci-fi tale that involves mind-bending multiple realities. Starting off with the shady organisation IO, who created the Fortnite island with the help of Zero Point, a massive ball of energy that connects all realities.
Since then, various enemy factions such as The Last Reality, have invaded the island to destroy Zero Point and ultimately end the entire universe in the process. Thankfully, over the years, multiple characters from popular fictional universes like Marvel and DC have appeared in Fortnite to save the day alongside loopers (players.)
In the ongoing Chapter 3 of Fortnite, IO forces are at war with The Seven, a group dedicated to saving the Zero Point at all costs. While the IO doesn’t want the battle royale loop to stop, The Seven are fighting to end the loop for good.
Below is the recommended and minimum system requirements for Fortnite PC.
Fortnite is a competitive PvP game, and various factors contribute towards winning and earning a victory crown. Before Epic Games introduced the Zero Build mode, winning in Fortnite primarily boiled down to the building skills of a player.
Understanding and using building efficiently in Fortnite makes a massive difference and can lead to victory. This is why there are so many Youtube videos and guides explaining various aspects of building and how players can use it to their advantage.
However, since Epic Games has introduced the Zero Build mode, where building is disabled, several other factors now play a prominent role in ensuring one’s victory in Fortnite.
From equipping weapons of the highest tiers to being incredibly agile on the field, these factors determine whether a player will win a match in Fortnite or not. Players should also remember that practice makes perfect, and to get better at Fortnite, they have to spend time playing and understanding the battle royale.
V-bucks are Fortnite’s in-game currency that players can use to purchase various items from the item store. There are multiple ways to earn V-bucks in Fortnite. Players can either get them by levelling up the battle pass or by purchasing them with real money. Some quest packs also allow players to earn V-bucks back by completing quests.
1,000 V-bucks is equivalent to $8. V-bucks are non-refundable and players can’t transfer them from one account to another. Moreover, V-bucks are confined to a singular platform, which means a PlayStation user can’t use their V-bucks on their Nintendo Switch and vice versa.
Fortnite has a major presence in the esports space, with plenty of events and tournaments happening on a regular basis. Fortnite’s Arena mode rewards players with hype points, which allows them to level up their rank and participate in exclusive Fortnite tournaments for cash prizes and other rewards.
Epic Games also hosted the inaugural Fortnite World Cup in 2019 with a pool prize of $30 million. The first Fortnite Fortnite World Cup finale garnered over 2.3 million concurrent views on Youtube and Twitch, with the 16 year old Kyle Giersdorf, aka Bugha winning the Solos bracket.
We do not know whether the Fortnite World Cup will return in 2022 or not. But given the massive popularity of the first one, it’s very likely that it would.
