Shortnitemares film festival Fortnite Season 8: Start time, how to watch, rewards, more

There's been no shortage of new content so far in Chapter 2 Season 8 of Fortnite. Epic Games have provided gamers with timely map changes, weapons updates, new NPCs to interact with, and much more.

We're now nearing the end of October which means the spooky season is coming to a crescendo, and Fortnite is ready for fright night. The official Fortnitemares 2021 promotion has been underway, featuring new skins, cosmetics, and a new Shortnite mini-event.

It's now time for the Shortnitemares film festival featuring seven spooky movies and exclusive rewards available for unlocking. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the action.

When does Shortnitemares start in Fortnite Season 8?

After being teased earlier in the month with the announcement of the Fortnitemares 2021 promotion, Epic Games saved the latest Shortnite film event for Halloween week. Shortnitemares will begin on Thursday, 28th October at 11 pm BST.

The event will run through the holiday weekend with an end time scheduled for Monday, 1st November at 11 pm BST. With only seven short films to watch, gamers should have more than enough time to complete the challenges and earn the rewards.

Shortnitemares film festival rewards - How to unlock

Gamers who watch up to 30 minutes of the Shortnitemares films will earn an exclusive Halloween-themed Spray Matter Spray. The spray paint comes out as a brain inside a jar, a nice way to leave your mark during the spooky season.

There is no specific order which gamers need to follow when viewing the seven Shortnitemares films. Simply accumulate 30 minutes of view time and the reward will be unlocked.

In addition to the free rewards, the Kernel Poppy Outfit will be available in the Item Shop beginning 28th October alongside the Slurpy Slush‘em Back Bling (complete with a crazy straw) and Butter Buddy Emote.

How to watch Shortnitemares film festival

Watching Shortnitemares is easy, gamers just need to select the Shortnitemares playlist from the game menu, and they will be taken to the Shortnitemares theatre.

Each of the seven films has a mini-theatre for its dedicated viewing, allowing gamers to move freely about and watch the films in any order they want. There is also a film loop available in the festival room main screen.
