Palians were a little surprised upon entering the gate at Bahari Bay to reach The Elderwood to find Nai'o exploring the area. Later in The Elderwood quest, he revealed that he has a young boy whom he meets and provides with food, but he disappeared following the events leading to the Answering the Call quest.
As Subira continues to seek clues as to where this boy may be, Nai'o has a task connected to why he's visiting The Elderwood. Learn more about what Nai'o has in store for Palians in the Through the Woods quest by following the objectives and a walkthrough provided to complete the quest in Palia.
Palia Through The Woods Quest Objectives List
Before completing The Elderwood quest, Nai'o reveals in his dialogue that he has a task for us that he needs some assistance with, and when they have a few minutes to spare, they can visit him at the Elderwood Central Stable board. His task is connected to why Nai'o was first seen at the start of this quest, aside from finding the young boy he meets at the board.
Once Palians have spoken with Nai'o, the task he has will help make traveling across The Elderwood more efficient, and in the end, there's a unique reward he has in store. Let's get ready to connect The Elderwood, as we've highlighted all the objectives needed to complete this quest:
- Find the Lakeside Stables
- Find the Pinecone Stables
- Find the Rocky Cliff Stables
- Find the Tall Tree Stables
- Return to Nai'o
How To Complete The Through The Woods Quest In Palia?
Palians can begin this quest by speaking to Nai'o, who can be found beside the Elderwood Central Stable board, and proceed to talk to him. Nai'o explains the purpose of his being in the Elderwood by expanding the fast travel system; however, he's unable to find all the locations.
As he's in possession of the map, which he found "in the stables," he asks to touch the map to unveil all the locations as he couldn't read or decipher the writing, which he brought to Caleri, and she confirmed those writings to be "Human runes." Caleri later added that the map "was powered by some kind of human magic," which is likely connected to the fast travel system that the Umbraans utilized.
Over time, the map lost its connection to the "human magic," which is why the locations are no longer marked. It's possible that to restore them, someone who has interacted with the fast travel system can connect the Flow to the map, and it's where the Player comes into the picture.
Nai'o tasked Palians to find the remaining stable boards throughout The Elderwood using a series of picture clues to their locations: a lake, a pinecone, a rocky cliff, and a tall tree. With the Central Stable board activated in the opening moments of The Elderwood quest, the remaining locations, based on the clues provided, are as follows:
- The Pinecone Stables – Mitana Grove: Using the Elderwood Central Stables as the starting location, head up the staircase going north from this location, and after exiting the tunnel, make a quick left turn and hug the cliffside. Follow the cliffside until they find the Mitana Grove Stable tucked in a corner on the left side.
- The Tall Tree Stables – Deep Woods: They can use the Mitana Grove Stable to fast travel back to the Elderwood Central Stables, and this time, head south down the tunnel beside Tamala's Potion Shop and follow the path until they reach the third crossroads (which is a "dead end"). There's a hidden path to the left, between a tree and a huge rock which leads them out towards the edge where they can see the next stable board from distance which using their Glider to reach the tall tree, climb up the trunk to land onto the giant flowers sticking out and keep doing this to wrap around the tree until they reach a platform before activating the Deep Woods Stable board.
- The Lakeside Stables – De Mer Dock: From the Deep Woods Stable board location, go to the right of the tree to find a lit area and a pathway, which once on the ground, follow the path to enter the Red Blossom Cave system. Sticking to the main path on the cave's southside will lead them out to the Okanaa Bog, where, to their left, they can see the docks, with the leftmost dock being where the De Mer Dock Stable board can be found.
- The Rocky Cliff Stables – Mauvais Way: The final stable board is on the northwestern side of The Elderwood in Mauvais Way atop a "rocky cliff," and they'll need to traverse across the bog by sticking to the dockside. There's a gap which leads them to some ruins and an Umbraan Shrine, but keep moving north through the center of Mauvais Way until they find some large tree roots near a cliff where climbing them will lead them to the Mauvais Way Stable board.
It's possible that Palians may have found a handful of these stable locations before getting this quest, and the discovered boards will be marked off in their objectives list. Once all the board locations have been found, Palians receives five Renown and the Elderwood Pioneer Accomplishment for discovering all the Elderwood stables for their efforts.
They can return to Nai'o, who will be back in Kilima Village, and depending on the time of day, he's either at the farm or near the Kilima Village Central Stables. As a token of thanks for discovering the Elderwood Stable boards, they'll receive five more Renown and the Stables Sign blueprint (recipe), which completes the Through the Woods quest, and they'll receive the next quest, Up the Hill, from Nai'o.
