Salt and Sacrifice is a new 2D souls-like by the developers of 2016's Salt and Sanctuary. Naturally, it borrows a lot of gameplay elements from its predecessor and Souls games in general, including multiplayer and co-op.
Co-op in Salt and Sacrifice is a bit tedious, similar to how it is in Elden Ring and other soulslike games. However, once you get an idea of how it works, it becomes easy to use.
Unfortunately, the game does a poor job of explaining how offline and online co-op works, and, as such, here's our guide that explains everything you need to know about multiplayer and co-op, including the location of the cooperation board in Salt and Sacrifice.
How to access offline co-op in Salt and Sacrifice
Local or offline co-op in Salt and Sacrifice is rather simple to access. To begin, simply connect another controller, and a pop-up to create or load a character for the second player will show up.
Cooperation board location in Salt and Sacrifice
To access online co-op in Salt and Sacrifice, you have to first finish the game's prologue and reach the hub area known as Pardoner's Vale. From here, keep heading downwards until you find a notice board, which is your cooperation board.
How to access online co-op with a friend in Salt and Sacrifice
The cooperation board will allow you to host a lobby and invite your friend into your session or let you join your friend's session. To host a lobby, you have to create a passkey. Now, tell your friend to use this passkey at the cooperation board so that they can join your session. Like in Elden Ring, it takes a few seconds for the other player to appear in your game.
How to access online co-op via matchmaking in Salt and Sacrifice
Playing online co-op with a random player via matchmaking in Salt and Sacrifice is a bit more complex than playing with a friend and has a few prerequisites. First and foremost, you must find an item called Pale Candle. This will allow you to initiate a search for other players online.

How to Get and Use the Eternal Darkness Sorcery in Elden Ring
You will find a Pale Candle in Ashbourne Village, the first major area in the game. After spawning, head right, and you will soon find a locked door that you can only open via Mage hearts. You get mage hearts by defeating mages There are a total of 5 mages in Ashbourne Village.
Once you have sufficient mage hearts, head down the door and keep going until you find an NPC in an area called Greymoss Fire. Talk to her, and she will return to Pardoner's Vale. In Pardoner's Vale, you will find her in a house in the area below the cat. Talk to her, and she will give you the Pale Candle.
Hosting a session in Salt and Sacrifice is a different beast altogether. For this, you will need an item called Guiltless Shard.
The mages' minions drop Guiltless Shards and are pretty easy to obtain. You will also need the Golden Candle. You will find it in a chest in the Root-Ceil Cavern of Ashbourne Village.
To summon a second player for co-op, all you have to do is make sure that everyone enters the same network password and have them use a pale candle each.
That concludes our guide on how to use co-op in Salt and Sanctuary and where to find the cooperation board in the game.
