Black Ice is one of the few rare minerals found in Conan Exiles and can be used primarily for crafting various equipment like weapons, tools, and armor. This mineral is an extremely powerful resource to mine as it enhances the equipment's durability and strength while granting the equipment unique buffs and boost to stats, which comes in handy during the mid to late game.
If you wish to acquire more fighting Thralls, higher-grade armorers, and blacksmiths and consistently upgrade your weapons and armor, you'll need to know where to find Black Ice in-game. This guide details everything about Black Ice, including how to find and best use them in Conan Exiles.
How To Find Black Ice In Conan Exiles? Locations
Finding this valuable resource can be tricky as its mining locations are limited to the Snow biome region. More specifically, you must travel to The Frozen Slopes (D13) and locate the Black Ice mining nodes between the Obelisk here and The Temple of Frost.
These nodes can be found in various spots surrounding these areas and inside the temple, where you can find a few mining nodes. To successfully mine Black Ice, you'll need to attack the nodes using a high-grade variant of a pick or pickaxe, preferably Hardened Steel and higher.
Another way of acquiring Black Ice is by crafting it at the Exalted Altar of Ymir, which requires Ice, Ice Shards, and a Manifestation of Zeal. However, many players have stated that this method is somewhat tedious as it depletes your Ice and Ice Shards and won't "contribute" to your gameplay progression.
How To Use Black Ice In Conan Exiles?
Once you've accumulated enough Black Ice, this mineral can be used in crafting various equipment, as previously mentioned. It can't be crafted using any workbench if you wish to craft weapons and tools, as this can only be achieved by learning the Frost Smithing Knowledge by interacting with the Lorestone near Hrungnir of the Frost's throne in The Temple of Frost.
Secondly, you can find the Frost Temple Smithy workbench, which the Frost Giant Smith and Frost Giant warriors are protecting. This workbench can be found inside The Forge of Ymir, a room located within The Temple of Frost.
It's possible to find Black Ice on the Isle of Siptah; however, the downside is that there's no possible way of crafting weapons, tools, and armor. This can only be done on The Exiled Lands at The Temple of Frost should you wish to acquire Black Ice equipment.
However, this mineral can be used in crafting higher-grade furnishings and structures at the Construction Hammer workbench, like various Black Ice-Reinforced ceilings, roofs, and doorframes. Likewise, you can use Black Ice to craft Hardened Steel and Star Metal Bars, which requires additional resources, including Steel Bar, Brimstone, and Star Metal Ore.
You can also craft various pieces from the Redeemed and Silent Legion armor sets, like boots, gauntlets, and leg pieces, which provide you with heat and cold resistance buffs. Lastly, as mentioned before, various Black Ice armor and weaponry can be crafted at the Frost Temple Smithy workbench, including the Pride of Aesir set and daggers, Greatsword, Longsword, Spear, and various axes.
