Disney Dreamlight Valley Scramblecoin Tips & How to Unlock Every Figurine
GINX/Patches Chance

The new Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time expansion has added quests and characters, but it also introduced a board game known as Scramblecoin. This chess inspired game uses unique Scramblecoin pieces for different characters which each have their own unique abilities.

In this guide, we've got all the tips and tricks you need to win at Scramblecoin in Disney Dreamlight Valley. You'll also find details on every single Scramblecoin piece and how to unlock them for your own team.

How to Play Scramblecoin in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Scramblecoin

If you want to unlock Scramblecoin, you'll need to purchase the expansion A Rift in Time. Once you have it, you have to progress far enough to trigger The Port of Many Worlds which will take you to Eternity Isle. Upon arrival, look for Mickey Mouse and speak to him in order to receive your first Scramblecoin pieces.

To play Scramblecoin, you'll first choose 5 figurines for your lineup. You then have 5 turns to collect more coins than your opponent. Coins are collected as soon as a figurine lands on its tile. Standard Silver Coins are worth 1 point, but Gold Coins net you 3 points.

At the start of each turn, you may either place one of your figurines on the board according to its entry point or replace an already played figurine with a new one. You can only place or replace once per turn, so be careful not to replace figurines early instead of playing a new one.

You can have a maximum of 3 figurines on the board at once, so once you have three active you'll be required to replace a figure and cannot use an entry point. Finally, your turn ends with all your figurines have been moved.

Tips to Win the Scramblecoin Board Game

Disney Dreamlight Valley Scramblecoin Tips

Everyone is going to have their own preferred strategy and lineup of pieces, but we've found a reliable group that consistently perform. The most important starter piece you get is Scrooge McDuck, and he's remained in our lineup long after unlocking others. Scrooge will always net you one coin per turn, no matter how unlucky the coin spawns are each turn, so he's a very safe play at the start of a game so long as there is at least one coin within reach.

Every single turn you make a decision, you should be looking at all the moves each piece could make. See where your existing pieces could go, and try to introduce pieces that have potential moves which score you even more coins. Every situation is different, but you really can just get down to counting turn by turn and picking a 3-Coin move instead of a 2-Coin move.

Until you unlock a more proficient piece with Jump like EVE, you also want to keep Goofy in your lineup. In the later turns, you want additional versatility with pieces to grab the Gold Coins, and having a strong piece with Jump will let you reach more Gold Coins.

From there, the rest of your lineup is mostly up to preference, but try not to have overlap between movement type and ability. Jump is helpful for one piece, but it is hindered by not collecting multiple tiles worth of coins in a move and shouldn't be the only type of piece you have. If you have a strong piece that move diagonally, make sure you've also got strong pieces that move horizontally and vertically.

Once you've unlocked Ursula or Fairy Godmother, having an Ethereal piece is also very versatile. Pieces with Charge like Gaston, Stitch, and WALL-E can be risky but rewarding as they could snag several tiles worth of coins at once or could get pinned in a corner. Try to keep a versatile piece on your bench to replace a Charge piece if it gets too locked up.

If you're struggling to win at Scramblecoin, the most important thing to remember is that even losses help progress you towards new pieces. You can also focus on upgrading your Royal Hourglass to make a powerful piece like Merlin or Rafiki, which we have more details on unlocking below. You may be struggling with your existing lineup, but eventually you'll add stronger pieces and have more to work with.

Keep playing more Scramblecoin games with as many different characters as you can each day and you'll unlock more pieces. If you're ever in need of an easy win, Goofy uses 5 Goofy pieces (which can only collect one tile per turn) and is definitely the easiest character to defeat.
