Genshin Impact’s 2.1 updates “Floating World Under the Moonlight” will bring tons of new features to the game with the addition of the Watatsumi and Seirai islands, as well as a new fishing system, more powerful bosses, and most importantly, four new characters.
Previously, we covered everything about the supreme ruler of Inazuma, the Raiden Shogun, as well as the arrival of Aloy, the first-ever crossover character for Genshin Impact, thanks to a partnership with PlayStation.
Now, it’s time to introduce you to the next 4-star character coming in this update, being a vital piece around Inazuma’s story, as she serves loyally to the Shogunate being in charge of maintaining order within Inazuma City itself. Presenting the “Crowfeather Kaburaya”, Kujou Sara.
Kujou Sara - Backstory and origins
Every matter around the nation of eternity is always overseen by the Tri-Commission, composed of the Yashiro Commission who manages the shrines and cultural events, the Kanjou Commission who manages Inazuma's finances, and the Tenryou Commission, responsible for managing security and military affairs.
The Tenryou Commission is led by the Kujou Clan and compared to the other Commissions, it has a higher desertion rate due to the reality and horrors of war plaguing them, as a result of the Shogun’s Vision Hunt Decree. But besides this, there is one person within this Clan whose loyalty to the Shogunate is so strong, she could give her life to defend her family’s honour and protect Inazuma.
Kujou Sara is known for her determination, as she will do everything in her power to keep alive the will of the Shogun. But even with her stone-cold and resolute attitude when pursuing her missions, she hides a kind and peaceful side, something you can see whenever she goes to the Sacred Sakura to clear her mind, so she can be quite easygoing even at the hardest moments.
Since she was fostered from a young age by the Kujou, Sara hasn’t spent a single day without practicing her bow exercises, being one of the most skilled users with this weapon, and combined with her discipline, and her mastery of the Electro element, she will not hesitate to fight whether if it’s by your side, or against you.
Kujou Sara - Talents
Her normal attack, Tengu Bowmanship, allows her to perform up to five consecutive shots with her bow, while with her charged attack, she can perform a more precise aimed shot with increased DMG. While aiming, she will accumulate crackling lightning on the arrowhead, dealing Electro DMG if fully charged before impact.
With her elemental skill, Tengu Stormcall, Sara can retreat rapidly and summon the protection of the Crowfeather, gaining its Cover for 18 seconds. While in this state, your next fully-charged arrow will leave a Crowfeather in the targeted location.
These Crowfeathers will trigger the Tengu Juurai: Ambush shortly after, dealing Electro DMG and granting you active character an ATK bonus, based on Kujou Sara’s Base ATK.
With her Elemental Burst, Subjugation: Koukou Sendou, Sara will cast down the Tengu Juurai: Titanbreaker, dealing Electro DMG in its area of impact and spreading out four consecutive bouts of Tengu Juurai: Stormcluster with additional Electro DMG on each hit.
Kujou Sara - Best weapons
We will start this list with the Skyward Harp, by far the best 5-star option for Kujou Sara. This great bow is part of the Mondstadt Series, symbolizing Dvalin's affiliation with the Anemo Archon while containing the power of the sky and wind within.
It comes with a special effect called Echoing Ballad, which increases CRIT DMG by 20/25/30/35/40%. Hits will also have a 60/70/80/90/100% chance to inflict a small AoE attack, dealing 125% Physical ATK DMG. This effect can only occur once every 4/3.5/3/2.5/2 seconds.
Elegy for the End
Next up we will find the Elegy for the End, a 5-star bow as lovely as any bard's lyre, its arrows pierce the heart like a lamenting sigh, and is a part of the "Millennial Movement" that wanders amidst the winds.
This weapon features “The Parting Refrain”, a unique effect that increases Elemental Mastery by 60, and whenever your Elemental Skills or Bursts hit opponents, your character will gain a Sigil of Remembrance.
Once you collect four of these sigils, all of them will be consumed and all nearby party members will obtain the "Millennial Movement: Farewell Song" effect for 12 seconds. increasing Elemental Mastery by 100 and ATK by 20%. Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain more Sigils of Remembrance for 20 seconds.
Moving on to the 4-star weapons, we must suggest the Sacrificial Bow, a ceremonial hunting bow that has become petrified over time, granting its wielder the power to withstand the winds of time.
Along with all weapons from the Sacrificial Series, this weapon features the Composed passive, which allows that after dealing damage to an opponent with an Elemental Skill, said skill will have a 40% chance to reset its cooldown. This can only occur once every 30 seconds, being more likely to activate if the skill hits multiple enemies.
To close this section, we’ll take a look at the Mitternachts Waltz, a 4-star bow painted with the colour of transgression and nights of illusion, available in the game since version 1.6.
It comes with the Evernight Duet effect, allowing every time your Normal Attacks hit on opponents to increase your Elemental Skill DMG by 20% for five seconds, while your Elemental Skills hit on opponents increase Normal Attack DMG by 20% for five seconds.
Kujou Sara - Best artifacts and stats
Emblem of Severed Fate
As the main choice for her artifacts, we will recommend the Emblem of Severed Fate set, a series of artifacts recently introduced during the 2.0 update, which can be obtained from Momiji-Dyed Court in Inazuma.
With two pieces of this set, your Energy Recharge will be increased by 20%, while if you manage to get four pieces, your Elemental Burst DMG will be increased by 25% of your current Energy Recharge, up to a maximum of 75% bonus DMG.
Next up we will find the Thundering Fury set, as it can buff the power of your Electro DMG by 15% when having two pieces.
With four pieces, all Overload, Electro-Charged, and Superconduct damage will be powered up by 40%. Triggering any of these reactions will also reduce your Elemental Burst cooldown by one second, once every 0.8 seconds. You can collect these at the Midsummer Courtyard.
In case you only have two pieces at hand, these can be combined with the Noblesse Oblige set for a bonus 20% Elemental Burst DMG, or with the Gladiator’s Finale set to increase your ATK by 18%.
We will finish with the Noblesse Oblige set, as it will considerably increase the power of her Elemental Burst by 20% by using two artifacts.
But, if you manage to get four of these, using an Elemental Burst will increase all party members' ATK by 20% for 12 seconds. This effect cannot stack. As a reminder, the pieces of this set can be found in the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern Domain from Liyue.
As for the artifacts stats, these will be focused on increasing her critical attack chances and damage, as well as exploiting her Elemental skills to take full advantage of these on the field:
- Electro DMG Bonus
- CRIT DMG
- CRIT Rate
- Energy Recharge
- Elemental Mastery
Recommended team composition and release date
Thanks to her potential to buff all allies, as well as her powerful Elemental Burst, Kujou Sara can be used both as a support and as a Sub-DPS unit, so choosing characters with good close combat abilities will be crucial to exploiting her full potential.
That said, you can choose between the following characters based on what suits you best for the battle:
- Bennett (Pyro): Bennett will bring both healings and also a bigger ATK boost combined with Sara’s skill passive. Also, thanks to his Pyro affinity, you can create some devastating Superconduct reactions, which will obliterate all enemies around.
- Next up you will want to go for an Anemo character, since their swirls can bring a good CC while most options can do a considerable amount of damage, along with some offensive buffs. Our best picks will be choosing Jean or Venti, although you can go with the Traveller at last.
- Beidou (Electro) or the Raiden Shogun (Electro): Both can provide Electro attachments, while also being benefited by their Elemental power-up, giving you some damage to deal with your opponents.
- Last but not least, you can also go for a Hydro character like Xingqiu or Tartaglia, as these can trigger lots of Electro charges, dealing tons of DPS.
And that’s all we gotta share with you about Kujou Sara. Remember, she will only be available from 1st to 22nd September in the banner “Reign of Serenity”, along with the Raiden Shogun’s debut, so try to save as many Primogems as you can.
