When Is No Man’s Sky Coming To Mac?

No Man's Sky, the popular space exploration game, has been available on various platforms, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, for some time now. However, the game has yet to be released on macOS, leaving many fans wondering when they'll be able to play it on their Apple computers. As we are currently in 2023, players are curious about the release date of No Man's Sky on Mac. With that said, here's what we know so far about the game's release on this platform.

No Man’s Sky Mac Release Date

Throughout 2022, not much information was shared regarding the macOS release of No Man's Sky. However, Apple's recent "Meet the New MacBook Pro and Mac Mini" event confirmed that the game is still on track for a 2023 release on macOS. Apple's Senior Engineering Program Manager, Erin Turullols, showcased the game running on a Mac mini and mentioned that the device is great for running demanding games such as No Man's Sky at faster framerates.

While no specific release date was mentioned during the event, it was officially confirmed that "No Man's Sky will be available later this year." This news should relieve fans who have been waiting patiently for the game to be released on macOS. In fact, Jeremy Sandmel, GPU Software Director at Apple, stated:

No Man’s Sky, coming to Mac later this year, will be one of the first games to use MetalFX Upscaling. The frame rate increases, giving you that responsive feel, and it looks beautiful.

Apple also announced that No Man’s Sky is one of the first applications to utilize Apple's latest graphics API called Metal 3, which includes a new feature called MetalFX upscaling. It's worth noting that no official system requirements for No Man's Sky on macOS have been announced yet. However, it's expected that only Macs with Apple Silicon, including M1 and M2 machines, will be supported, while Intel-based Macs will not be compatible. More information regarding system requirements will likely be shared closer to the game's release date.
