Genshin Impact begins with a cutscene where Paimon is narrating the Traveler’s story about how he/she (depending on the character you choose) ended up being at Teyvat. According to the story, Traveler and his/her twin fell from another world and when they were trying to leave, a God of one of the Teyvat’s nations blocked their path and took their twin.
Now, he/she is stuck there as the God cast some kind of a seal and not only this, he/she has lost the powers too. Traveler met Paimon about two months ago from this dialogue and she will be his/her (Traveler’s) companion in the quest of looking for that God and finding the twin.
During the journey, players will have to fight various enemies, bosses, and Gods and for that, Genshin Impact features various switchable characters having different abilities that you can add to the party to take all of them down.
At present, there are a total of 48 characters in Genshin Impact and HoYoverse keeps on adding more with each update. While some of these characters are available for free, the others can be pulled from their respective banners using Intertwined Fates.
