Does No Man’s Sky on Nintendo Switch Have Multiplayer?
Hello Games

No Man’s Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe. In 2022, the game finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch, bringing the vast and beautiful cosmos to the portable device.

One of the features that many fans of No Man’s Sky enjoy is the multiplayer mode, which allows players to join up with friends or strangers online and explore the galaxy together. The multiplayer mode was introduced in 2018 with the NEXT update and has been expanded and improved since then with subsequent updates.

But, does the Nintendo version of No Man’s Sky have multiplayer features? Let’s find out.

The Nintendo Switch version of No Man’s Sky does not have the same multiplayer functionality as the other platforms. According to the developers, Hello Games, the Switch version is a “single system” game, which means that only one player can play on a single Switch console at a time. This also means that there is no cross-play or cross-save support between the Switch and other platforms.

This does not mean that the Switch version of No Man’s Sky is completely isolated from the rest of the community. The game still supports online features such as uploading discoveries, naming planets and creatures, and seeing other players’ bases and structures. This means that you can leave a mark on the universe even when you are offline, and your friends can admire the amazing structures you’ve created (even if you are not online to join them).

To share your location with them, you’ll need to use the in-game Glyph system that generates specific coordinates. Then, your friends can use these coordinates to teleport to your base and see your hard work.

As of September 2023, Hello Games has not announced any plans for No Man’s Sky multiplayer on the Switch.
