Palia Romance Guide: How To Romance Hodari

The Halloween season may be out to haunt and scare Villagers across Kilima Village, but there is a light shining within a cave in Bahari Bay. The latest patch update, v0.170, has added a long-awaited Romance option, which players can hope to strike gold by starting a relationship with Bahari Bay’s local miner, Hodari.

Developer Singularity 6 explained that this romantic option took time to “pay respect to the experiences and challenges that can come with an older romance, especially for single parents.” If you wish to learn how to turn a friendship into a diamond-strong relationship, we’ve explained how to romance Hodari in Palia.

Hodari is a local miner residing in Bahari Bay and is Najuma’s father, whom players will see occasionally in Kilima Village. He’s also their Skill Master for the Mining skill, for which players can level up and unlock various items and recipes, which can be acquired with Gold and Skill Medals.

Players can also become rock-solid friends with this attractive miner, and now, in the v0.170 patch update, they can finally pursue romantic relations with Hodari. To have the Romance option available for Hodari, players must reach Friendship Level 3 with him, but there are additional requirements to meet.

They must also have reached Friendship Level 3 with Hodari’s daughter, Najuma, and have completed her Friendship Level 4 quest, Airtight Plan Part 2. After helping Najuma with her safety suit designs, players must also ensure they have completed the Like A Bird and Echoes of the Unknown quests, where they’ll be introduced to Najuma and continue helping her out.

Once these quests are completed and have reached the Friendship requirements, they can initiate a romantic relationship with Hodari by presenting him with a Box of Chocolates purchased from Zeki’s General Store. They can also gift Hodari with a Heartdrop Lily foraged from the rolling cliffs of Bahari Bay, and once accepted, they can begin increasing their relationship with Hodari by flirting or handing him a gift daily.

Players will also receive new quests to advance their Romance with Hodari, for which they’ll receive various rewards, including Renown, Romance Points, and, of course, the all-important Pin from Hodari. These quests, in no particular order, are as follows:

• Soup for Sniffles or Powering Through
• Business and Leisure
• Pin for Pin
• Hodari’s Pin

It’s important to remember that players can equip a maximum of two Romance pins at any given time to unlock new dialogue with other Villager NPCs. Nevertheless, there’s no limit to how many Villagers can have romantic relationships with all Villagers in Kilima Village and Bahari Bay.

Palia is currently available in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The cozy MMO will be available on Nintendo Switch consoles, releasing Holiday Season 2023.
