Felix "xQc" Lengyel is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch in the world and has earned millions of dollars whilst doing it. Despite this monumental success, xQc advised his fans against "chasing their dreams" of becoming an internet content creator, particularly if they did not have a backup plan.
xQc preached caution in his recent stream and said that "most people fail" in their endeavour. He also explained why he felt it was a "crazy big problem" when other influencers encourage their fans to chase their dreams in the hopes of achieving equivalent success.
Twitch legend xQc gives best life advice: "The reality is most people fail"
In his stream, xQc explained that many people have thwarted expectations about what it takes to become successful as a content creator, essentially saying that just because he made it doesn't mean that everyone else will.
"The reality is [that] you will fail", xQc said. "I'm not saying you but most people because it's like a ninety-nine point whatever percent and that's true for most crazy business ideas, or crazy business ventures, or crazy plans. The reality is most people fail," he added.
He went on to say: "Some people will make it but if everybody says ‘Ah, you know what dude, I’m gonna succeed because he said I will’ and everybody goes all-in with no Plan B, you’re going to have a lot of very broken down homeless [...] done people with no other options."
xQc continued his rant by saying: "I think that’s a crazy big problem that people have when they listen to people that say 'oh just follow you’re dreams, like I made it, obviously it worked'" and called it "very short-sighted".
Despite the seemingly pessimistic remark, xQc does have a point. Many people appropriate the 'follow your dreams' sentiment without properly evaluating the reality of ever achieving them.
While it's good to strive toward achieving a particular goal or dream, it's also equally important to recognize the caveats that may encroach on the way there and to be realistic with one's own expectations.
xQc is known to sometimes make outlandish outbursts or remarks but this one certainly hits the nail on the head.
