How To Get Dawning Essence Quickly In Destiny 2

The Dawning 2023 is now live in Destiny 2, bringing one last round of festivities to the Tower before a climatic showdown with the Witness in The Final Shape. 

Eva Levante and her holiday oven are back as well, and there are plenty of opportunities to bake treats for your comrades and snag some cool Dawning rewards. Like every year, baking cookies and other treats requires various ingredients, with Dawning Essence being a common requirement for them all. As such, you will need a ton of Dawning Essence to bake all the treats and complete those new Event Challenges.

In this guide, we reveal how to get Dawning Essence in Destiny 2 and, more importantly, how to farm it quickly. 

How To Get Dawning Essence in Destiny 2

Before we get into the details on how to farm Dawning Essence quickly, we figured it's best to outline some common ways to get this in the first place. 

You can get Dawning Essence in Destiny 2 by completing Dawning bounties, strike playlists, dungeons, lost sectors, as well as seasonal activities. They can also drop in Dares of Eternity, Gambit, and Crucible matches. It goes without saying, but challenging variants of these activities have a chance to drop more Dawning Essence. 

How To Quickly Farm Dawning Essence In Destiny 2

One of the quickest ways to farm Dawning Essence is to boot up the First Contact mission of the Lightfall campaign and make your way to the end of the mission, where you find the drop pod. The trick is to swap your character upon reaching the drop pod and ask a friend to join your party. The next time you load up this mission from a different character, you will start next to the drop pod. Now, ask your friend to get in the drop pod. Doing so will get you and your friend at least 17 Dawning Essence. 

Instead of getting into the drop pod yourself, swap back to your original character and load up the First Contact mission (which should start from near the drop pod.) Do get in the drop pod this time to get an additional 17 Dawning Essence. Keep repeating the process to gain a substantial amount of Dawning Essence in a short time. 

Do note that Bungie had patched this farm before in Festival of the Lost, so it's likely to do the same soon in the Dawning. Hence, don't forget to exploit this farm to your heart's content before it's fixed.

If this method is too complex, you can always farm dungeons as they drop more Dawning Essence than most activities in the game. One of the best Dungeon encounters for farming Dawning Essence is the Dûl Incaru in the Shattered Throne dungeon. This could drop up to 20 Dawning Essence.
