Bungie has added a new Catalyst to the Exotic Auto Rifle Monte Carlo. Here's how to get it and what it does.

Bungie

There are a ton of great Exotic weapon Catalysts in Destiny 2. Every once in a while, Bungie introduces one that will completely change the way players think about their favorite piece of their go-to arsenals. With Season of the Witch, Bungie has brought a Catalyst to the fan-favorite Monte Carlo, an Exotic Auto Rifle originally from Destiny 1 with a bayonet attached to the gun's barrel.

Fans have been begging Bungie for years to give the Monte Carlo some fun functionality with its iconic bayonet, and now with the weapons Catalyst finally in the game, we finally get to see what that pretty little blade can do. Let's take a look at how to get the Monte Carlo Catalyst in Destiny 2: Season of the Witch.

You love to see it

The Monte Carlo Catalyst is finally here and offers some pretty fun gameplay changes. Before you can use it, however, you have to get it to drop. The Monte Carlo Catalyst will drop from Ritual activity completions across the game's Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit runs. We recommend trying to focus on running Crucible for this drop as Crucible matches are the least time-consuming overall.

Note that you don't have to have completed the new Timeline Reflections quest to unlock the Catalyst, this is more so an avenue for newer players to get their hands on the Exotic itself, opening them up to pursuing the Catalyst.

How To Unlock The Monte Carlo Catalyst In Season Of The Witch

Once you have the Catalyst, you're only about halfway there. You'll need to nab yourself 500 kills with the weapon in order to actually unlock its functionality. We recommend heading into the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon's opening area and hanging out for 15-20 minutes, killing adds exclusively with the Monte Carlo. This will quickly unlock the Catalyst for you to go and play with.

500 kills, ain't nothin' but a thing

This Catalyst allows players to long press their Reload to convert their Bayonet into essentially a Glaive, dealing massive melee damage when activated. In order to get this to work, you'll need to get your Monte Carlo's buff, Markov Chain, to x5 either by rapidly defeating 5 enemies or by getting a single melee kill.

Once Markov Chain is at x5, long press your reload button and you'll see the Bayonet Locked buff in your status feed. This will never depreciate unless you use it or die, and you can swap weapons and it will stick around when you swap back to your Monte Carlo.

The best part of this is that you can still use the gun part of Monte Carlo while Bayonet Locked is active and build up stacks of Markov Chain up to x5 again. If you get a kill with the gun's Bayonet, it will grant another 5 stacks of Markov Chain and you can instantly activate the perk. This grants an infinite loop of Bayonet Locked, granting massive melee damage that is stackable with other melee damage buffs (Titans, I'm looking at you).
