When Is Warzone Caldera Shutting Down?

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has been on the rise lately. Warzone 2 Season 4 has introduced the new map Vondel, new weapons, and new Operators to add to players' colelctions. There is plenty of new content in Warzone 2 that players are enjoying and are looking forward to as well.

But there are some players that are still playing the original Warzone game. Warzone Caldera is that original Warzone game, in a limited capacity. But Activision recently announced that Warzone Caldera is shutting down and will no longer be in service. But when will Warzone Caldera shut down? Here, we will go over that so you can prepare for that date.

Warzone Caldera will be shutting down on September 21, 2023. In a recent update brought to us by Activision, they laid out their plans to shut down Warzone Caldera. Ever since the release of Warzone 2, Activision has down-sized what players can do in the original Warzone game to the absolute bare minimum.

Players can only play solo or in four-man squads. On top of that, only the Caldera map is available with Battle Royale mode. Many players who were fans of the original Warzone game say that Warzone Caldera is not worth playing. Without the support of Activision, the shutdown of Caldera was only a matter of time.

What Will Happen When Warzone Caldera Shuts Down?

On September 21, no one will be able to play Warzone Caldera anymore. More than likely, the option to download Warzone Caldera will vanish as well. Activision claims that they are doing this so they can focus on current Warzone live services. They want to put all of their efforts into Warzone 2 and Warzone Mobile.

But players will not lose what they bought from Warzone Caldera. Warzone Caldera content that was purchased there will still be accessible in Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard. So there is still a place for all your Caldera content in other Call of Duty games. For now, it seems like Activision will want to put its entire focus on the latest Warzone games. The shutdown of Warzone Caldera will have no effect on what is happening in Warzone 2 and Warzone Mobile.
