Can You Play Destiny 2 On Steam Deck In 2022

Destiny 2 continues to be one of the most popular live-service games to this date. The game's player count continues to increase substantially with every new DLC release, and the upcoming Lightfall expansion is currently one of the most pre-ordered expansions of all time.

Like most AAA live-service games, Destiny 2 is available to play on most modern platforms. This includes PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and even Google Stadia. Sadly, it's not available on one of the most-played handheld devices - Nintendo Switch. 

However, recently, many graphically demanding games have been made available on Steam Deck, another popular handheld device that's been turning eyes. As such, it's no surprise that a huge chunk of the Destiny community has been wondering whether Destiny 2 is playable on Steam Deck or not. 

Destiny 2 Is Not Playable On Steam Deck

Sadly, as of this writing, Destiny 2 is not Steam Deck verified, which means you can't play it on Steam's popular handheld device. The biggest reason for this is that Destiny 2's anti-cheat is not configured to Support Deck, and anyone who tries to access the game on the platform will be banned. 

Here's what Bungie's official website had to say on the matter:

"Destiny 2 is not supported for play on the Steam Deck or on any system utilizing Steam Play's Proton unless Windows is installed and running. Players who attempt to launch Destiny 2 on the Steam Deck through SteamOS or Proton will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time. Players who are not accessing Destiny 2 through Windows and attempt to bypass the SteamOS/Proton incompatibility will be met with a game ban."

That's pretty much it. While it's quite unfortunate, Destiny 2 is well-optimized on other platforms, including last-gen consoles - PS4 and Xbox One.
