With the Lightfall expansion, Bungie is making many changes to its ever-evolving looter-shooter Destiny 2. Recently, the studio detailed how mod customization and build crafting will change with the upcoming expansion. Now, in its latest TWAB, Bungie has revealed how weapon and armor focusing will change in Destiny 2 Season 20.

For those unaware, focusing allows players to roll high-stats armor and weapons. So without further ado, let's dive into all the weapon and armor focusing changes coming to Destiny 2 with the Lightfall expansion and Season 20.

All Weapon Focusing Changes In Destiny 2 Season 20

Firstly, Bungie is retiring Umbral Engrams. Players can focus Seasonal gear using the new Seasonal Engrams, whereas Vanguard gear can be focused using new Vanguard Engrams.

Starting in Destiny 2 Season 20, Zavala will allow players to focus Vanguard weapons and armor. This also includes Nightfall weapons. In addition, players won't have to collect Vanguard Engrams. Instead, they will earn it by increasing Zavala's vendor rank. Players can also open Vanguard Engrams directly on Zavala. In Season 20, players can focus the Photosuede Vanguard armor set at Zavala.

The following Vanguard weapons will be available to focus in Season 20

  • Xenoclast IV 
  • The Third Axiom 
  • Royal Entry 
  • Empty Vessel 
  • Punching Out 
  • Fortissimo-11 
  • Strident Whistle 
  • Pure Poetry 
  • Prolonged Engagement 

Nightfall Weapon Focusing in Destiny 2 Season 20

The following Nightfall weapons will also be available to focus in Season 20: 

  • The Militia’s Birthright 
  • Mindbender’s Ambition 
  • Wendigo GL-3 
  • Hung Jury SR-4 
  • The Swarm 
  • Buzzard 

To focus a Nightfall weapon, players will need: 

  • 1 Vanguard Engram 
  • 20,000 Glimmer 
  • 50 Legendary Shards 

Like seasonal focusing, players have to earn the aforementioned Vanguard weapons and armor at least once before they are available to focus. Nightfall weapons can be acquired from running Nightfall strikes.

Starting Season 20, players can also focus Adept Nightfall weapons. However, to do so, players will require Adept Nightfall Ciphers. These can be obtained by completing Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes. The amount of Adept Nightfall Ciphers players earn depends on their Grandmaster Nightfall completion score. 

  • Platinum = 2
  • Gold = 1
  • Silver = 0

Zavala will only offer one Adept Nightfall weapon for focusing every week, depending on the rotation. To focus an Adept Nightfall weapon, players will need the following resources: 

  • 3 Vanguard engrams
  • 50,000 Glimmer
  • 50 Legendary Shards
  • 10 Adept Nightfall Ciphers

The following Adept Nightfall weapons will be available to focus in Season 20: 

  • The Militia’s Birthright (ADEPT) 
  • Mindbender’s Ambition (ADEPT) 
  • Wendigo GL-3 (ADEPT) 
  • Hung Jury SR-4 (ADEPT) 
  • The Swarm (ADEPT) 
  • Buzzard (ADEPT) 

Legacy Focusing in Destiny 2 Season 20

In Destiny 2 Season 20, Bungie is also introducing "Legacy Focusing." As a result, players can expect a ton of weapons and armor from past seasons to be available to focus, including Crucible, Vanguard, Gambit, Iron Banner, and Trials of Osiris gear.

The following Crucible Armor sets will be available for Legacy Focusing in Season 20:

  • Swordfight 4.1 
  • Phoenix Strife Type 0 
  • Ankaa Seeker IV 
  • Wing Contender 
  • Wing Discipline 
  • Wing Theorem 
  • Cinder Pinion 

To focus a legacy crucible armor piece, players will have two options. If they have acquired that gear previously, focusing will cost: 

  • 1 Crucible Engram 
  • 25 Legendary Shards 
  • 5,000 Glimmer 

On the other hand, if they haven't acquired that gear previously, they will need: 

  • 3 Crucible Engrams 
  • 50 Legendary Shards 
  • 10,000 Glimmer 

The following Vanguard armor sets will be available for Legacy Focusing in Season 20: 

  • The Took Offense 
  • The Shelter in Place 
  • Xenos Vale IV 
  • Phobos Warden 
  • Vigil of Heroes 

Players will have two options to focus on a legacy Vanguard armor piece. If they have acquired that gear previously, focusing will cost: 

  • 1 Vanguard Engram 
  • 25 Legendary Shards 
  • 5,000 Glimmer 

If they haven't acquired that gear previously, it will cost: 

  • 3 Vanguard Engrams 
  • 50 Legendary Shards 
  • 10,000 Glimmer 

The following Nightfall weapons will be available for Legacy Focusing in Season 20: 

  • PLUG One.1 
  • Uzume RR4 
  • The Hothead 
  • The Comedian 
  • Duty Bound 
  • Silicon Neuroma 
  • D.F.A. 
  • Horror’s Least 

To focus a legacy Nightfall weapon, players will have two options. If they have acquired that weapon previously, focusing will cost: 

  • 3 Vanguard Engrams 
  • 25 Legendary Shards 
  • 25,000 Glimmer 

On the other hand, if they haven't acquired that weapon, legacy focusing will cost: 

  • 7 Vanguard Engrams 
  • 100 Legendary Shards 
  • 10,000 Glimmer 

Bungie has also confirmed that legacy focusing of Adept Nightfall weapons will not be available. 

The following Gambit armor sets will be available for Legacy Focusing in Season 20: 

  •  Calamity Rig 
  • Ancient Apocalypse 

If the player has acquired a piece of armor previously, focusing will cost: 

  • 1 Gambit Engram 
  • 25 Legendary Shards 
  • 5,000 Glimmer 

If they haven't acquired it previously, focusing will cost: 

  • 3 Gambit Engrams 
  • 50 Legendary Shards 
  • 10,000 Glimmer 

The following Iron Banner armor sets will be available for legacy focusing in Season 20:

  • Iron Forerunner 
  • Iron Will 
  • Iron Truage 
  • Iron Fellowship 
  • Iron Remembrance 

The following Iron Banner weapons will be available for Legacy Focusing in Season 20: 

  • Archon’s Thunder 
  • Riiswalker 
  • Occluded Finality 
  • Forge’s Pledge 
  • Peacebond 
  • Frontier’s Cry 

If the player has acquired any Iron Banner gear previously, focusing will cost: 

  • 3 Iron Engrams 
  • 25 Legendary Shards 
  • 25,000 Glimmer 

On the other hand, if the player hasn't acquired any of these Iron Banner gear previously, focusing will cost: 

  • 7 Iron Engrams 
  • 100 Legendary Shards 
  • 10,000 Glimmer 

The following Trials of Osiris armor sets will be available for Legacy Focusing in Season 20: 

  • Pyrrhic Ascent 
  • Exile 

The following Trials of Osiris weapons will be available for Legacy Focusing in Season 20: 

  • Shayura’s Wrath 
  • Reed’s Regret 
  • Aisha’s Embrace 
  • Burden of Guilt 
  • Forgiveness 

If the player has acquired a Trials of Osiris gear before, focusing will cost: 

  • 3 Trials Engrams 
  • 25 Legendary Shards 
  • 25,000 Glimmer 

If the player hasn't acquired a Trials of Osiris gear before, focusing will cost: 

  • 7 Trials Engrams 
  • 100 Legendary Shards 
  • 10,000 Glimmer 

Adept versions of Trials of Osiris legacy weapons will not be available for focusing. And that's all the focusing changes coming to Destiny 2 in Season 20.
