Is Jason Voorhees coming to Dead by Daylight?

Producer Roy Lee, who worked on Friday the 13th, announced recently that there will be news about Friday the 13th by the end of the year, Leaks by Daylight reported.

"[Friday the 13th] is something that I would love to talk about. You may be hearing something by year’s end... on that front," Lee said.

Data miner Leaks by Daylight believes that the Dead by Daylight chapter that will release at the end of the year could involve Friday the 13th and Jason Voorhees, considering both announcements will come around the same time.

At the same time, though, the announcement could very well be another movie or game, so fans will have to stay tuned to find out.

For a long time, players saw it as impossible for Jason to join Dead by Daylight's killer roster.

Friday the 13th: The Game was released in 2017, about a year after the release of Dead by Daylight.

Friday the 13th was seen as a competitor to the latter game; both are asymmetrical multiplayer horror games, and both allow players to play as survivor or killer. The only killer in Friday the 13th is Jason Voorhees, though, with players being able to customize his abilities.

Friday the 13th did not do as well as Dead by Daylight, and, as a result, stopped receiving updates in November 2020. Its dedicated servers are no longer supported or maintained.

During the lifetime of Friday the 13th: The Game, it was seen as nearly impossible to get Voorhees added to Dead by Daylight; after all, why would Jason's owners license him out to a competitor?

Now that the 'Friday the 13th: The Game' servers are no longer active, though, and the game is no longer receiving updates, it's very possible that Jason Voorhees could find a new home in Dead by Daylight.
