Destiny 2 'A Spark of Hope' Quest Walkthrough: How To Start & Complete

A Spark of Hope is one of the first exotic quests in Destiny 2 that players can pursue after reaching The Tower. It is an introductory quest for players to familiarise themselves with the prominent vendors and characters in Destiny 2.

As mentioned above, it's also the first of the many exotic quests players will get in Destiny 2. All exotic quests reward exotic gear, the highest tier gear available in Destiny 2. Completing the A Spark of Hope will reward players with one of the most powerful exotic SMGs in the game - Riskrunner.

If you're new to the game and are stuck on one of the many steps, fret not. Here's a complete walkthrough of the A Spark of Hope quest in Destiny 2.

How To Start 'A Spark of Hope' Exotic Quest In Destiny 2

If you don't have the quest, go to the Tower and speak to Commander Zavala to acquire it. Alternatively, you can pick it up from the Quest Archive in the Tower. It's right next to the Postmaster.

Step 1 - Speak with Zavala, Ikora, and Devrim

The first objective is to speak with Zavala, Ikora, and Devrim. You can find Zavala, the leader of Titan Vanguard, on the edge of the Tower, just ahead of the Postmaster.

After speaking to Zavala, you will get an instruction to speak to Ikora, the leader of Warlock Vanguard. You will find Ikora in the Bazaar section of the Tower.
After talking to Ikora, go to EDZ to talk to Devrim, who will send you to clear out three Lost Sectors.

Step 2 - Clear three Lost Sectors for Devrim

Lost Sectors are one of the primary PvE activities in Destiny 2 that takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. Different Lost Sectors feature different enemy types and bosses. Complete Lost Sectors to gain unique legendary and exotic gear and valuable resources.

The three Lost Sectors in EDZ are:

  • Atrium
  • Widow's Walk
  • Terminus

You can spot them on your map as the double vertical U symbols with a dot in the middle.

Once you have completed the Lost Sectors, go back to Devrim to start the next part of the quest.

Step 3 - Complete the Risk / Reward quest

This is a quest within a quest, and you will have to complete it to progress the A Spark of Hope.
You can access this quest by looking up Cosmodrome on your Map. Simply click on the Risk / Reward icon on the map to launch it.

There are a few objectives in the Risk / Reward quest though they are pretty self-explanatory. Completing this quest will reward you with the Riskrunner Exotic SMG and the Riskrunner Catalyst.

Return to Zavala in the Tower

Once you have finished the Risk / Reward quest, head back to the Tower and talk to Zavala to complete the A Spark of Hope quest. Zavala will reward you with an emblem among other items.

That's it. You have completed the A Spark of Hope quest in Destiny 2.
