Warzone’s Massive Resurgence Reduced To Slightly Bigger Resurgence

A new update in Warzone has reduced the player count of Massive Resurgence by 50, and players aren't happy.

Call of Duty Warzone 2 introduced a new variant on the popular Resurgence mode. Though regular Resurgence takes place on either Ashika Island or Vondel, Massive Resurgence brings the fight to Al Mazrah and drops 150 players into the map for pure chaos. Or at least, it did.

A new update for Warzone, which went live on October 18, has dramatically cut the player count for Massive Resurgence by dropping it from 150 players to just 100. The decision was met with confusion from fans, with some saying, “So it’s not massive anymore?”

Fortunately, it seems the reduction won’t be a permanent change. The official Call of Duty Updates X account replied to its own announcement, saying, “This reduction in Massive Resurgence Player count will only remain active on night Maps for the duration of The Haunting.”

So it seems once this year’s Halloween event is out the way, Massive Resurgence will once again return to its massive state. For now, players looking to jump in during The Haunting can expect to play a ‘moderately sized’ Resurgence instead. The main draw for Massive Resurgence was its player count, which saw a huge amount of players dropping into a single map. It meant faster, more frequent encounters, and required players to be that little more vigilant.

While Massive Resurgence won’t feel the same during The Haunting, players can at least take solace in the fact that it’s only temporaty. The Haunting event is set to end on November 6, 2023.
