Who is ZLaner? Iconic Call of Duty Warzone Streamer & Esports Player

Canadian-born Zack “ZLaner” Lane is one of Call of Duty: Warzone’s biggest names and personalities. The 24-year-old OpTic Gaming content creator primarily rose to stardom through regular appearances in bombastic YouTube streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm's Livestreams but has since made his mark in the Call of Duty community.

ZLaner began his journey as a Facebook Gaming (now Meta) streamer by playing and competing in the popular battle royale title Fortnite. He later migrated to Call of Duty: Warzone, where he achieved viral success. Through this success, he garnered the recognition of prominent internet icons like Dr. Disrespect. Who is ZLaner in the Call of Duty: Warzone Community?

To stand out from the crowd, you have to be entertaining, highly skilled, confident, and dedicated; ZLaner is all four of these things (and much more). In an interview with Stonemountain64 on 26 January 2021, ZLaner discussed his decision to chase his dream of streaming full-time: “I was just like, I'm quitting my job at Best Buy; I'm giving my notice. I'm gonna take a hold on gigs, and I'm streaming 10 hours a day every single day," he said.

ZLaner first started streaming in July 2018 by playing Fortnite. He may not have dominated the professional scene during that time, but he appeared in the Fortnite: World Cup North America East competition in 2019 and the Fortnite Champion series in 2020. At the time, the streamer's preferred streaming platform was Facebook Gaming. This move came courtesy of DiMez, who recruited ZLaner exclusively to stream via the platform.

However, the Canadian-born content creator eventually switched gears, moving to Call of Duty: Warzone. Later, he also streamed exclusively on YouTube Live, which allowed him to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the community, including HusKerrs, Symfuhny, Aydan, and Dr. Disrespect. Following this move, ZLaner surged in popularity, zooming to over 750,000 followers in just six months, attributed to his great personality, insane skill, and positivity.

Unfortunately, like some other big Warzone streamers, ZLaner would later be accused of hacking. Some people could not comprehend how he could react so quickly and eliminate anything in sight on the controller. He would discuss his claw technique, a preferred choice amongst professionals in many console titles.

To disprove the "hackusations," ZLaner streamed with his camera facing the monitor and controller, ensuring that the community witnessed his talent in all its glory. Followingly, like most top streamers, ZLaner proved that he was (quite simply) just that good. This much is evidenced by his esports tournament success (see some of his accolades below).

On 9 November 2022, ZLaner announced his partnership with the American esports organization OpTic Gaming, citing that his "childhood dream" had finally come true. The shock announcement further justified ZLaner's prolific success throughout the years, having (at that time) garnered well over 1.5 million fans and being named one of the highest-earning personalities in Warzone.
