MrBeast Has Officially Surpassed PewDiePie On YouTube

For the longest time, Felix "PewDiePie" Arvid Ulf Kjellberg has been the king of YouTube, sitting at the top of the platform with the most subscribers as a content creator. Of course, not including companies like T-Series, YouTube, or Cocomelon, PewDiePie has single-handedly meteorically risen to the top and stayed there for years. That said, as of today, the king's reign on YouTube has ended and passed on to another widely-known and loved content creator.

On 14th November 2022, Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson officially surpassed PewDiePie as the largest content creator on YouTube. It was only last 28th July 2022 did the YouTuber officially break through 100 million subscribers on YouTube, and now MrBeast has overtaken the king himself as the platform's most subscribed content creator.

MrBeast is widely known for his generous acts and majorly entertaining videos where the content creator gives away millions of dollars, luxury cars, homes, and of course, plants thousands of trees. If there's one YouTuber the world knows for their generosity and kind-natured personality, MrBeast is arguably the first that comes to mind. That said, it's no surprise for the content creator to officially surpass PewDiePie—especially for PewDiePie himself.

When MrBeast surpassed 100 million subscribers a couple of months ago, PewDiePie was ecstatic to know that the creator would eventually overtake his spot on YouTube. In a Q&A video on 13th August 2022, PewDiePie was asked about MrBeast's recent accomplishment and said that he "couldn't wait" for it to happen. The YouTuber stated that he was retired for over two years and was excited to know someone would finally take his spot on YouTube and glad it was MrBeast because the content creator "deserved it."

That said, four or so months later, MrBeast has officially surpassed PewDiePie by a few thousand subscribers and counting. As of current writing, MrBeast has overtaken PewDiePie by 88,000+ subscribers at a total count of 111,934,132. Of course, PewDiePie might take his crown back, but with MrBeast's meteoric rise on the platform, it's safe to assume that the new king of YouTube will continue to stay on his throne.
