Asmongold's mom hospitalized after oxygen machine ignites into flames

Twitch star and World of Warcraft icon, Asmongold revealed how he saved his mom from a terrifying fire after her oxygen machine ignited and nearly exploded into flames. The incident occurred on 7th October and did not result in any fatalities, although Asmongold's mom was hospitalized as a result of her catching alight and being knocking out of her chair.

According to Asmongold, his mom was smoking within close proximity to her oxygen machine, which ultimately caught alight and spread flames everywhere. The Twitch star explained how it was one of the scariest experiences of his life and that he will never forget it. "I can't even wrap my head around how the stars aligned for me to be there," he said.

Asmongold saves mom after her oxygen tank ignites into flames

Asmongold explained that he heard a "really loud crash" after resting from a stressful stream and rushed to his mom's room, which was practically on fire.

"The little oxygen tube was [on fire] and going to the tank and it was like a cartoon where the little fire is going to the bomb [...] I immediately turned off the tank, I was able to stop it from exploding or anything like that. I had to put the fire out on the floor. It was just everywhere and on her," Asmongold said.

He went on to explain that when he found his mom, she could not even speak, saying: "I think it had obviously knocked the wind out of her because it knocked her out of her chair." Asmongold explained that he then immediately called 9-1-1, who responded quickly and took his mom to the hospital.

Asmongold said that he feels incredibly lucky that things happened as they did and that he was there to respond. "I didn't even know whether she was going to live, to be completely honest with you [...] and if I wasn't there at that exact time [...] she probably wouldn't even be alive," Asmongold said in disbelief.

The doctors and team that are treating Asmongold's mom are "relatively optimistic" about her recovery, which Asmongold said is "reassuring" but he is still very concerned.

"It's probably one of the scariest experiences I've ever had in my life. I don't think I'll ever forget it. I can't wrap my head around the fact that the stars aligned that I was just there in that situation at that time to help her and potentially save her. I can't even really come to terms with it," he said.

Asmongold concluded by saying that he will be taking a break from streaming - just a week after returning from his most recent hiatus. While he did not indicate how long he will be away, he said that he would return "sooner rather than later."

We cannot imagine the trauma that both Asmongold and his mom might have gone through and definitely feel that it is only appropriate that he take some time off to process what happened. We also trust that his mom will make a hasty recovery.
