On 13th March, Twitch streamer CashMeow (otherwise known as Cash) was physically assaulted by three or four male thugs during an IRL live stream outside a restaurant in Shibuya, Japan.

The incident followed after Cash intervened when one of the group members sexually harassed a woman, attempting to grab and pull her toward him. This sparked an altercation inside the restaurant, resulting in one of the attackers breaking Cash's streaming equipment and later fleeing the scene.

Shortly after reporting the incident to the Japanese authorities, the group returned and violently beat the streamer before taking off once again.

In the moments leading up to the assault, Cash attempted to talk to the man to stop him from harassing the woman. Soon afterwards, another group member walked over to him, grabbed Cash's water bottle and drank it in front of him.

A confrontation then ensued, drawing all thugs to gang up against Cash. Despite attempts by a member of the public to downplay the incident, presumably to prevent a fight from breaking out, one of the men grabbed Cash's camera equipment when he tried to film their faces.

The men struggled in trying to grab the camera, but end up breaking the camera equipment instead. The camera then beeped and turned off, prompting the stream to trigger a "Be right back" screen. The stream returned minutes later, with Cash giving his statement to the Japanese police.

Shortly after speaking with the authorities, Cash returned to the restaurant and reviewed messages from his chatters. After replying to one of his viewers, the streamer said that he wasn't initially going to pursue legal action but decided otherwise when the thug broke his equipment.

Merely seconds after finishing his sentence, Cash was attacked by the same group of misfits taunting him earlier. In the clip, we can see Cash beaten and screaming in pain from the attackers kicking and punching him before once again fleeing the scene.

Later in the stream, the cops returned a second time, after which Cash provided evidence submitted by several Twitch community members on his Discord server. The authorities reportedly apprehended one of the attackers, who was thought to be Columbian.

According to a user on Reddit, Cash confirmed that he would proceed with a criminal case of assault and battery charges for all three attackers, at the very least.

The user continued, adding, "[Cash] said they had p*ssy punches and nothing is broken." Cash reportedly told viewers that he was shocked they attacked him in public and didn't know if the attackers were on drugs or not or were part of an organised crime or drug syndicate.

The next day, Cash continued with his Twitch stream and showed the result of being beaten up by the thugs the previous night.

It's terrible what happened to Cash, especially considering his good intentions to help a woman in distress. While his heroism will certainly not go unnoticed, we hope that this incident will not deter him from standing up against misogynist scum like this again in the future.
