Who is Ludwig? The Smash Melee player turned streaming sensation

In the world of streaming, rising to the top is often a slow grind, yet, sometimes, a content creator just hits all the right notes at the right time and sees a meteoric rise in a matter of months, that is the case of Ludwig Aghren.

If you've seen Ludwig make headlines recently due to his never-ending stream, but are unfamiliar with the story behind the content creator's success, we're here to help.

Who is Ludwig Aghren?

Ludwig Aghren, born July 6, 1995, starter his journey as a content creator in 2012, when he created the YouTube channel TheZanySidekick, dedicated to the Call of Duty franchise. He would quickly pursue other ventures, as the channel only has three videos uploaded and still publicly available. 

Years later, while in college, Ludwig discovered the world of competitive Super Smash Bros Melee, deciding to actively participate in its community, as a competitor and commentator.

Under the name "HypedForSlicedBread" Ludwig managed a few notable wins, under pro players such as Cary "Vro" Zhang and Kashan "Chillindude" Khan, but ultimately, he was far from being considered a top competitor in the scene.

As a tournament organizer, Ludwig is perhaps more known for LACS (Ludwig Aghren Championship Series). The first edition occurred in 2018, but its real popularity started when the streamer brought the event back in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which put live Melee events on hold. 

LACS 3, held this past December, was a direct response to Nintendo issuing a cease and desists to The Big House TOs, forcing them to cancel the event due to the usage of Slippi, a third-party mod that gives the title the ability to be played online using rollback netcode functionalities.  The event ended up raising upwards of $261,000 for the Gamers For Love Charity.

As a content creator, his reach far exceeds that of the Smash community, becoming a variety streamer that primarily focuses on Just Chatting with the help of his wits and charisma.

His stream would start blowing up during 2020, as constant collaborations with fellow streamers such as Sodapoppin, xQc, and Pokimane would help him gain a wider audience. 

All of a sudden, Ludwig would see himself amongst the most subscribed Twitch streamers, and would start investing in other ventures, such as his own clothing line, Mogul Moves, and his record label, Mogul Records, releasing a Christmas Album titled "A Very Mogul Christmas."

With his never-ending stream going strong, the popularity of Ludwig has skyrocketed even further, as mainstream media is giving him an even wider exposure.
