By now, everyone may have seen his streams, his in-person appearances and epic tweets and many have concluded that Dr Disrespect is one of the most entertaining streamers in the world.

Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV is a former Twitch and now YouTube Gaming streamer notable for his striking moustache, catchphrases and of course, his gaming prowess.

Incomparable to other streamers, Dr Disrespect is one of the most widely followed and popular streamers, even when factoring in his move to YouTube.

History

Dr Disrespect’s early career

Dr Disrespect began his career in 2010 appearing in created content videos playing Call of Duty for gaming publication, Machinima. From 2011, he stopped producing content for his YouTube channel for five years.

During this time, he started working for developer Sledgehammer Games, as their community manager before working his way through its hierarchy when he got promoted to the studio’s level designer. This promotion came about after having designed various multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

His Twitch career began during his tenure at Sledgehammer Games for which he ultimately left the studio in 2015. He soon after pursued a streaming career full-time, building a reputation for playing battle royale games such as H1Z1 before turning his attention to Call of Duty games later on.

Dr Disrespect has also been awarded some silverware this far in his streaming career. He has won The Game Awards’ Trending Gamer in 2017 as well as the Esports Industry Awards’ Streamer of the Year in 2017 and 2019.

He took a hiatus in 2017 for personal reasons and upon his return in February 2018, he nearly bested the then-Twitch record of most concurrent views of 388,000. He continued his momentous streaming career on the platform which saw him sign a multi-year deal with Twitch in 2020 before his account was permanently banned on the platform that same year.

Dr Disrespect’s current career

The Doc returned to streaming, only this time moving from Twitch to YouTube, as of August 2020. While the circumstances surrounding his Twitch ban have yet to be explained, Beahm himself didn't know the details until a year later.

He revealed during a stream on 23rd August 2021, we reported that he had known about the details behind his Twitch ban "for months now." The Doc did go on record saying that he was "suing the f*** out of them."

Despite this, he continues to draw viewership to his new streaming home. His first stream, according to reports, generated over 400,000 viewers in which many had asked for an explanation behind his Twitch ban. Regardless, his hugely successful return to streaming, Dr Disrespect doesn’t appear to be going anywhere, any time soon.

Channels and featured appearances

Since the move back to YouTube in 2020, the Doc has frequently appeared on streams with TimTheTatman, CouRage, DrLupo and ZLaner, whom the latter remain streaming on Twitch. He predominately streams shooter and battle royale games and now and then, a variety of games like FIFA, Resident Evil and Cyberpunk 2077.

The Doc also uploads non-gaming content to his YouTube channel including music videos, short films and the occasional vlog clips. The Doc has a secondary YouTube channel, Doc Shorts, dedicated to short-form gaming videos from his streams, vlogs, music videos and more.

Other business endeavours

The Doc has certainly been proactive outside the realm of streaming with a few important projects. More notably, The Doc is working on forming his game development studio as of 2021. The studio, which according to a job listing on the Champions Club website, is actively looking for talented and experienced applicants to join the venture.

And yes, Dr Disrespect also wrote a book, titled 'Violence. Speed. Momentum', which was released on 30th March 2021. The memoir details why he feels he’s the best gamer of our generation as well as sharing stories that had never been made public about his career as a streamer.

In late 2019, Dr Disrespect signed a TV deal with Skybound Entertainment, the production team behind The Walking Dead, for an animated Dr Disrespect. The plot of the show will be how a fictional character based on Beahm depicts his journey to the top.

According to an interview with The Verge’s Bijan Stephen on the TV deal back in 2019, “Fans are curious about Doc’s origin story and I have been ideating and planning with my team BoomTV, on how to take the narrative forward for many years now.”

The TV deal is another business move for Beahm in expanding his media empire and it appears that he isn’t slowing down. And thanks to his streaming career, he has also acquired sponsorship deals with FanDuel, Roccat and Turtle Beach just to name.
