Is Verdansk Coming Back In Warzone 2 Season 4?

Verdansk holds a special place in the hearts of Call of Duty players, but will we see it return in Warzone 2 Season 4?
Is Verdansk Coming Back In Warzone 2 Season 4?

Activision have been slowly making changes to the Warzone 2 over the last few seasons, bringing it back up to the standards of the original Warzone while introducing some much-needed quality of life improvements. Amongst the revamp were new Operators, maps, weapons and more, to give dedicated Call of Duty players something to write home about.

In Season 4, players will be introduced to a brand new map — Vondel. Set in the Netherlands, this mid-sized map sits nicely in the middle of Al Mazrah and Ashika Island in terms of scope. It features plenty of builidings, attractions and waterways to add some new dynamics to matches. But despite this new map addition, Warzone players still find themselves longing for the maps of old. Specifically, Verdansk.

This fictional city has made a number of appearances in the Call of Duty franchise, debuting in Modern Warfare (2019). But Verdansk left its mark on players in the original Warzone, serving as the games first battleground. After the Destruction of Verdansk event, the modern-day map was replaced with a 1980's version, called Verdansk '84. Then, with the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard Season One, Verdansk was replaced altogether with Caldera.

But Caldera never quite captured the imagination of its players like Verdansk, and neither has Al Mazrah in Warzone 2. With a need to please the crowd arising more than ever, will Verdansk be making a return in Warzone 2 Season 4?

Both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 4 launched on June 14, but Activision had already outlined the season's content ahead of time in a roadmap. Posted on June 7, the official Call of Duty blog revealed the content coming to Warzone 2 during the first half of Season 4. As it stands, there are no plans to bring Verdansk back to Warzone 2.

We'll know more about what the future holds for Warzone 2 as we approach the mid-season Reloaded update (usually dropping roughly a month after the season's initial launch). But, despite the lack of information, it's unlikely that the mid-season update will bring with it Verdansk.

The focus for Warzone 2 Season 4 appears to be the brand new Vondel map, which will be playable in DMZ, Resurgence and the Lockdown LTM at launch. The map will then become available to play in traditional Battle Royale modes later in the season.
